My flight leaves at 6 am.
I have not slept for more than an hour and a half at a time since last Thursday.
I am exhausted.
It is KWHSS weekend.
To all my heralds--please don't be offended if I doze off. Please (gently) wake me. Please don't push me over, watch me hit the floor, and then laugh. It could hurt the crown and that thing is expensive!
Seriously, I am not in my best of shape. If I look at you like you are speaking Swahili, that might just be how my mind is hearing it and I am trying desperately to remember my college linguistics course where I learned how to figure out what that verb tense was. If you ask me a question, and I answer a different one, feed me more alcohol and hope it gets better.
I will be proofing the LoAR on the plane tomorrow. Or sleeping. Or the rate I ahve been going this week, doing both at the same time.
See ya all tomorrow!

I was chatting with my high school love-of-my-life tonight on Facebook, and he had found some old pics of the two of us.
Wow, I was young.
I was even kind of cute back then.
( behind the cut is the two of us, looking like we belong on That 70's ShowCollapse )

Got home from the hospital last night, ate dinner, and fell asleep.
They don't know what is going on.
I have more tests to schedule at Portsmith.
I still am breathing very shallow, but am getting enough oxygen.

Tommy
I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play,
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play.
I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, wait outside";
But it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide,
The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
O it's "Special train for Atkins" when the trooper's on the tide.
Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.
We aren't no thin red 'eroes, nor we aren't no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An' if sometimes our conduck isn't all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don't grow into plaster saints;
While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind",
But it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind,
There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind,
O it's "Please to walk in front, sir", when there's trouble in the wind.
You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Mary turned 8 last monday, but we are having her party today at the VA Living Museum--she loves that place. Arlina and Beth got in yesterday evening, and we gave Arlina her presents last night. She loved everything--although *my* favorite present we gave her was the Moo-coo Clock :) A cow pops out and moos at you every hour. Kid started collecting cows, she should have realized with her family and friends, they would eventually take over her house!
Got to go finish getting ready for Mary's party--as much pain as I am in and the amnt of drugs I am taking, I am really glad I have people to help with the party, I don't think I could do it by myself--pretty stoned, but still hurt. sucks.

Yeah, I know, dangerous. Hush.
There are a lot of pages over on facebook that a number of my friends have been "like"ing.
I am finding a moral dilemma in those pages. It isn't that I am against the sentiment either. These are things like "Against the Westboro Baptist Church" "Remove the group that makes a joke about Obama's death" "Remove the Group Against American Soldiers" etc (Not the actual names of the groups, just the sentiment. Not going to the bother of looking up the actual names.)
Problem is, as much as I am against these things, I can't bring myself to support the pages/groups. I really firmly believe in freedom of speech, and these nutcases that these pages want removed from Facebook have as much right to their stupidity as I do to whatever they believe mine to be. I despise the Westboro Baptist Church, and everything it stands for. If they were to show up at a military funeral that I were attending, it would be all I could do to keep myself from being arrested for assault. But they have the right to their beliefs, even if I don't believe they have the right to force those beliefs on others--and a facebook page isn't forcing their belief in my, or anyone else's face like showing up protesting at a funeral is. Is it?
Obviously, I support the military--been married to it for going on 20 years. But I believe that others have the right to "not" support it. I believe they have a right to protest, to have web pages and demonstrations, etc, as long as they stay off bases and away from funerals--as long as they don't force their opinion on others.
Do I think people should be making a joke about praying for Obama's death? No. I don't think it should have been done for Bush either--maybe praying that he got caught and had to pay for his lies, deceptions and things that I believed were treasonous, yes, but not his death. But people have the right to bad taste and low senses of humor. I did "like" the page that says "We survived Bush, you can survive Obama"--that one doesn't cross the line for me.
I guess I am really trying to figure out where the line between free speech and forcing that belief on others lies for me. Today, with the haunting memory of Kent State--something that profoundly influenced the formation of my beliefs (I was 9 at the time, and already a news junkie), this seems especially important.
I am also curious where it lies for you.
