I've been listening to a LOT of music lately, as I've been organising and updating my iTunes and my CD list and all of that, so I thought it was time for another music spam. And I'll actually be around tomorrow, at least most of it, so I can actually tell y'all if you're right or not. So without further ado...

Oh yeah. This is that whole...
1. Put your music player on random.
2. Select the first 20 songs and post your favourite lyrics from each.
3. Let your flist guess what they are!

And as an added incentive, I am giving out presents for correct answers. (And maybe also for very good guesses.) :D

( this way for teh music!Collapse )

Hey, y'all! Quick question before I disappear back into radio silence (?).

How do you keep track of your CDs? I'm a bit Type A about keeping Lists of Things, and recently I've found myself somewhat dissatisfied with CD Tracker. Not because there's anything wrong with it, just that I don't like the interface and the lack of customisation options. So I was wondering...if you keep lists of things, like your CDs, where do you keep them? To make it easy, I've even made a poll.

Poll #939458 music tracker

How do you keep track of your music?

http://www.cd-tracker.com
1(16.7%)
http://www.recordnerd.com
0(0.0%)
http://del.icio.us
0(0.0%)
my own personal website
0(0.0%)
something else
5(83.3%)

If you use something else, what do you use?

If you don't use any of these, but you know of a different place like CD Tracker or RecordNerd, would you be so kind as to tell me? Thanks, guys. ♥

I should have something of content to post, but I am ill and therefore have very little. I still have fics to repost, and fics I am writing, and all of that, but...instead you get a music meme.

Step 1: Put your Media player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) your favourite lines of the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: NO CHEATING (that goes for the guesser, too!)

I'm terrible at these things because lyrics are not the first things that catch my attention like...ever, so I'll be interested to see how you all do. Because I am so terrible, I'm sticking to the first lines (except where it's zomgsoobvious), because my favourite lines would just...bah. Anyway. Also, I have a lot of instrumental music, so I skipped quite a bit so you didn't get lyrics like "dah dah DAH di-di dummmm" or summat. :p

( This way to lyrics!Collapse )

I am watching Bravo right now, and they are playing Puccini's La Bohème, translated into English, and "updated". Basically this means you have four thirtysomething artist-type men in a flat in London in the 90s, singing things like "sod you" and "my penis is the size of a matchstick". To Puccini.

I am far too entertained. FAR.TOO.ENTERTAINED.

AHAHAHA and Benoit believes in Baby Got Back, apparently. *snerfles wildly*

So it's looking more certain that I'm going to be attending Lumos this summer, and it got me wondering -- should I present something? I was thinking about it immediately after TWH, and after the lovely presentation I attended by bksncleverness, I was thinking I might do something music-related as well.

So I was wondering -- would y'all be interested in a paper-presentation about music and witchcraft and the connection between them? Not specifically just music either, like the music in the HP movies, which was presented extremely well already -- there's the idea of music and ritual, which I know quite a bit about, but then also things like...the timbre of pronunciations (think Wingardium LeviOsa versus LevioSA), and then things relating to magic but not specifically HP (things like Wicked come to mind, hahaha). So er...is this something people might be interested in attending? Obviously I'd have to narrow it quite a bit, like I'm thinking of the use of music as ritual, and how that seems applicable in the HP films and to some extent in the books.

Anyhow, let me know what y'all think, eh? And er, if anyone's interested in presenting something to this effect, I think it could easily be turned into a panel.

So, yeah. I'm going to go now before I go completely incoherent. So er. Yes. Goodnight!

1. Spent almost an hour this morning in class listening to Steve Reich's "Music for Eighteen Musicians". Seriously an AWESOME piece. Will have to gush about it on cherrypai later today because too much for here.

2. Had one of Timmy's butter caramel hot smoothies today because was feeling ill and needed something warm. Too sweet for me, but it was definitely tasty.

3. Thank you, Timmy's! I also got my poppy today. I've been feeling so naked without one -- we used to honour Remembrance Day like WHOA when I was in elementary school. Everyone wore poppies for like a week beforehand, everyone wore red and black on the 11th, and we had an assembly where the band played hymns and taps and Flanders Fields was always recited and people made speeches and stuff. I was shocked when I moved to the States and nobody even really knew what it was. I've missed it, very much. I'm glad to have my poppy back again.

4. I bit the side of my tongue last night in my sleep and now it hurts to swallow.

5. This is added to by the fact that my thyroid is being stupid again and so my throat is swollen. FTR, the reason I've been all...distant and down and super-stressed out and stuff lately is because my thyroid activity is off. It mimics the symptoms of clinical depression, which is what I was first diagnosed for when I was still in highschool, and so I've been all...weepy and hating myself and insanely stressed out. Plus, you know, PMS. So I'm sorry that I've been awful lately. At least now I know the reason so I can fix it.

6. I ordered my new computer!!! :D I'm getting a Mac Mini, which is zomgsocute and also really convenient, considering how much I move, hahaha. The one I've ordered is the 1.42gHz processor with 80GB of hard drive space, a combo drive (DVD/CD-RW), 512MB of RAM, AirPort, Bluetooth, and also OS X.4. I am SO. EXCITED. I'm also a huge dork, but that's ok. I'm cute that way. :D

7. I bought Batman Begins and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory today. YAYE awesome movies. Also The Virgin Suicides, which I've never seen, but mmmmmSofia Coppola. I'm not worried. Plus it was only $10. I also rented H2G2, which I've not seen either. Am about to remedy that.

8. Still have to write my the_eros_affair fic. Am so not in a mood to write PWP though. Bah. Though maybe watching Charlie & the Chocolate Factory will help. (Not with the PWP part, pervs. :p)

9. QaF. YAYE. Am on ep12, I think, after almost three days. I'd forgotten how bad the acting was at first, and also how HORRIBLE of a dancer Gale Harold is. But I love it. Loooooove. *_*

10. Tonight I think I'm going to do a musicspam. Songs that remind me of people I love. I'm feeling very nostalgic at the moment, haha. So look forward to that. Er, if I can get all my computer stuff sorted. >.>

So um...ahaha. I have been...having the weirdest musical cravings as of late. I mean, you've seen some of the musicspams I've posted, and the insanity therein, but this is probably the weirdest random craving I've had in quite some time. That's right, folks, Anj is craving Prince music, of all things. *grins* So if you have any Prince songs you would be so kind as to send me, I would so very very much appreciate it. Special brownie points and bonus snoggage to whoever sends me Raspberry Beret, because that's the one currently looping in my head.

*loves on all of you IMMENSELY*

I promise I will eventually post fandom-related stuff here. Promise.
