So it's not spring anymore, which means I'm starting to feel antsy for a new layout. The problem is that in autumn/winter, I tend to like layouts with dark backgrounds, which means light text, and people in the past have said this is an issue for them. So I wanted to post a poll to get y'all's opinions on this. Just for the record, I'm talking about the following:
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All. Participants: 53
On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being no problem at all and 5 being impossible, how hard is it for you to read a long entry (fic, etc) with light text on a dark background?
Do you have any suggestions for making a layout more legible/easier on the eyes/etc? Things you love? Things you absolutely hate? Comment if you need more space.
Wow, so I leave for a few days and everything explodes! Interesting.
I won't go off on a ramble/rant about the whole censorship/pornish_pixies thing - SixApart and LJ did what they had to do in terms of legalspeak, and as for the people who perpetuated it, the world is full of asshats, right? Never stopped us before, and sure as hell isn't going to stop us now. Huge ♥ to femmequixotic and everyone else who've been working their arses off trying to straighten this stuff out - they're really the people who keep us going. And after all, we wouldn't have the going-against-the-grain nature of fandom if there wasn't a grain to go against, right?
As for me, I'm not locking anything down. I do have a GJ account, which is anjenue over there as well; last major LJ out, back when I was still rosesanguina, I think I friended a lot of you under that name, but I'll refriend everyone under the new name and all as soon as I get a chance.
In other news, I'm back in TX for a few days before heading home again. I have a paper I should be writing right now, so I should get back to that. I'm also writing fic. A lot of it. *facepalm*
There's only us, there's only this, forget regret or life is yours to miss, no other road, no other way, no day but today.
3. Only finals left to go now. Everything else is done. Thank.God. Am currently looking at an A and two possible A-'s. This bothered me a few weeks ago, but right now? I don't much care.
4. Christmas cards. Yes. Maybe now that school stress has gone away I can actually do them up the way I want to.
5. So behind on cherrypai. Need to update that like whoa.
6. Have been making friendship bracelets to keep my hands occupied so they don't shake. It's working very well, actually. Though now I am tempted to pick up knitting again. What do y'all do when you're stressed out to keep yourselves sane?
7. I wish I knew how to use torrents. I really really really REALLY want Rent on my computer so I can watch it six million times. The DVD probably won't be out til April at the earliest and that is way too long to wait. *cries*
8. I ♥ CJ. Have I mentioned that lately? Because I do.
9. merry_smutmas and smutty_claus have started! I am very excited. Also nervous, because it seems a LOT more people are following this year. *bites nails* And after last year I don't know that I could do things justice, so I'm really REALLY nervous about my Smutmas fic. But excited!
furiosity's Draco Schlongathon. Little Malfoy's not so little after all. *coughs* I may or may not be writing something for this.
nassima has done the most AMAZING dragon art (with bonus Charlie) EVER, and you must go rave at her about how fantastic it is. That woman is seriously ridiculously talented and I'd be terribly jealous if I didn't admire her so damn much.
Dude. caladan_dd has Snape&Draco art. I am in fandom HEAVEN. Or perhaps fandom hell, as I am thinking very very filthy things about her versions of them doing very wicked things together. Ahem. *coughs*
The 'do you comment' thing I've seen around a bit...I'd just like to say that I am a commenter, but I usually only comment when I feel I have something worthwhile to say. Sometimes I feel like I should comment on all my friends' entries just so they know I'm reading, but I do read your posts. All of them. I just don't always have anything to contribute, and in those situations I feel much more comfortable not saying anything.
Now! Fandomly stuff aside, there is something else I should like to mention. I was talking to supergrover24 earlier and we were discussing Myers-Briggs personality types and how accurate we found our own results, as well as discussing our fundamental differences because we are fairly close in type but are still very different people. So we thought it'd be fun to take a survey and find out what you lovely people all are, in the interest of research and curiosity. And also wanting to find out more about you. So if you would, please take our lovely survey, and we will compile results to share with you! If you don't know your type yet, you can take the test here. The descriptions we're working off of are the ones at http://www.typelogic.com.
NOW! That aside, in case anyone's still with me and wanting to know how the move went...it went very well. I had professional movers to move my shit, my dad to help me pack, and lauriegilbert, cjmarlowe, imochan, and nimori to help me unpack. I haunted IKEA a couple times (and felt like Narrator from Fight Club a bit, haha), tried to fit 1100sqft worth of stuff into a 600sqft place (and mostly succeeded!), exploded a dictionary on my fridge, ate omgsodelicious Mediterranean food, unpacked some more, bought new furniture, fought with Bell.ca about getting my phone hooked up, spent a couple nights on an air mattress at my old place so I wouldn't completely be a cave person, and am now coming to you direct from my new couch in my new place with my new A/C freezing my tits off and this gorgeous view right behind my back. I am so very content right now. :) Once this place is tidied and fully set up (and once I've gone grocery shopping, haha), I will be a very happy camper indeed. And then I can take pictures so you can all envy me and my gorgeous place.
So I was having this conversation earlier, and it got me wondering about how people actually react to really really hot fic. I personally have always been able to appreciate really hot fics from both an aesthetic and a constructive sense, but that's about all. However, with communities such as pornish_pixies and erotic_elves and such being so popular, and the types of comments that seem to reign supreme, it got me thinking about how you all actually behave toward fic. In TMI-ness, I don't really wank, so I'm not the best judge about things like this. So I'm really interested to get a more...worldly perspective of things, I guess? So, I thought I'd use my pretty paid features and make a poll.
So without further ado. The wanking poll. Anonymous comments enabled, IP logging off, results only viewable by me...basically, don't have to be afraid of anyone finding out your dirty little secrets. I'm just looking for numbers.
HOWEVER, if you ARE comfortable with your wanking habits, feel free to share details. *wicked leer*
If you want something else, feel free to comment and let me know! I tried to include the ones that seemed most popular, but. :D I'll do at least the top one, and if I have time (or need something to help me procrastinate >_>) then I might do the top three. :D
