Off to the concert in Hyde Park this afternoon! Very exciting. I am trying to decide what to wear. At the moment I have 3/4 length black sports trousers (don't know what they are called) and a vest top, but it is supposed to be very cloudy this afternoon. I'm taking an emergency poncho and a thin jumper in my small rucksack, and I have something to sit on, but I am not sure what else to take to a concert...never been to a big one before... Doors open at 4pm but have no idea what time the actual concert starts.

Eeee!

Can anyone explain why I was singing 'In the Bleak Midwinter' in the car in a voice that sounded as if I'd been inhaling helium? Because I can't think of a reason, or even a random thought process that led to this.

Can anyone think of why the skin on my top lip is discoloured? No, not food related stains (goodness knows I've washed it thoroughly enough), not hair shadow, just brownish skin, and has been for a while. Probably not visible to anyone but me, but I would like very much for it to go away. Any thoughts on removal? I wondered about using facial hair bleach...

Bride-to-be is visiting for the weekend! Haven't seen her in ages although we talk regularly. I wonder what she'll think of my Shoes of Bridesmaiding Splendor. I bought them in Italy and I love them, but they are a bit more sparkly than I would usually wear. However, a bit of snazz goes with near-floor length silk I think.

Having posted that some people vanish, I notice I haven't posted myself for a few days.

On Saturday I went to Halstead with Mum and we explored the charity shops and ate lunch in Prezzo. Then we went to an outlet park (new experience for us) and I bought hideous amounts of things, including:

three jackets, a cardigan and a skirt from Per Una, plus a standard M&S t-shirt
Mother to Be bath soak for my cousin
Two pairs of clogs and a pair of sandles from Clarkes
A tin of Cadburys fingers, shaped like a train for Dad's Easter present
Ted Baker underwear (originally priced £15. Who spends £15 on a pair of knickers?!)
a stripy t-shirty jumpery thing with a detachable vest underneath, and a dark pink collared t-shirt from Next

I rarely have a proper spree, but my goodness this was one.

On Sunday Mum and I went for a Pamper Day at Elvedon Forest. Wonderfully relaxing, although my watch (a present two weeks ago) has broken. It came from a shop in Brighton so is hard to return. I can't think of anything I have done that it should not have been able to stand up to. Grr. I suppose the first thing to do is to ring them. Anyone had to do this before?

Last night I met a friend for dinner in a Turkish restaurant in Cambridge. Note to self: Only drink Turkish wine if it is free. Although the second glass does taste better...

And I found two things in my other bag that I was supposed to post ages ago. I am so sorry, and you will be receiving them soon.

I'm going away to a conference, back tomorrow and I don't know what to wear...My usual work attire is black trousers and a jumper and the other people are Rural Museums bods too so it wont be best suits, but do I wear a shirt and v-neck with black trousers, or a skirt and try to find a jacket? Decisions to be made in the next hour.

I am bad with clothes and I hate decisions.

Helena Merrick never feels hugely maternal to me, but in this I can imagine she'd been driven to distraction by first worry and then by a constantly grumbling Patrick. If this had been going on for…

I really enjoyed this. As a confirmed Josephine Tey fan (and Daughter of Time is my very favourite) I became, like Patrick a Richard III apologist after reading it, so this all seems extremely…

I loved this, especially Jon's part in it - it's lovely to see more of him, and their friendship.

I really enjoyed this - Jon is an interesting character, despite figuring so briefly in the books, and this is a lovely glimpse of him and Patrick...

And can I say that I love your Cabin Pressure…

I enjoyed this very much. We both seem to be interested in the theme of Patrick not being quite honest with Nicola, intentionally or otherwise!
I haven't read any Josephine Tey but I now intend to…
