Off to York to Bridesmaid from first thing tomorrow and realising I wont have a chance to reply to several people I need to beforehand so posting this in the hope you see and forgive me! Back Sunday, normal (and hopefully calmer) service resumes next week...
Sleep also not helped by the wrong pillow. After having a houseful last weekend (not the one just gone) I stacked all the extra bedding in my room. At the weekend I put it all up in the loft, Mum very helpfully having put it all into bags for me. Including the two pillows from my bed. I am *really* fussy about my pillows and the foam one I found is just Wrong...There will be a pillow safari in the loft this evening to track down my pillows.
I am really hoping to get a phonecall tonight telling me the button strip has arrived at the dressmaker's, because if it hasn't I will have to rearrange when I'm collecting and I am not sure when it'll happen :/ If it is there, I can collect the dress tomorrow - very exciting! Nineteen days until the big one (eee!). I shall have to start writing my speach!
I think I might be ready for the Hen event. I am touching wood as I type. Here's hoping. This morning I made jelly, a second loaf of bread (baking now), put the sleeping bags out to air, cleaned the bathroom, washed up, stripped my bed, priced play sand at a garden centre and bought 311 66p stamps.
I am also editing audio for the new listening post. There is a wonderful interview from a woman who has lots of interesting info but who keeps going off at the most terrific tangents. Much snipping involved.
Finally, to celebrate the fact that it is Friday, I present a blog about some of the nuttier comments on 'Have Your Say' type boards.
Can anyone explain why I was singing 'In the Bleak Midwinter' in the car in a voice that sounded as if I'd been inhaling helium? Because I can't think of a reason, or even a random thought process that led to this.
Can anyone think of why the skin on my top lip is discoloured? No, not food related stains (goodness knows I've washed it thoroughly enough), not hair shadow, just brownish skin, and has been for a while. Probably not visible to anyone but me, but I would like very much for it to go away. Any thoughts on removal? I wondered about using facial hair bleach...
Bride-to-be is visiting for the weekend! Haven't seen her in ages although we talk regularly. I wonder what she'll think of my Shoes of Bridesmaiding Splendor. I bought them in Italy and I love them, but they are a bit more sparkly than I would usually wear. However, a bit of snazz goes with near-floor length silk I think.
I know some of you buy patterns and make clothes, but where do you buy them from? Are there any particularly good online sites where I could buy a McCall's 3436? I don't know when I'll get a chance to go to John Lewis, and googling has confused me (but it is rather late)...
Had a bizarre weekend at a wedding, knowing neither the bride nor groom - I've never been an 'and guest' before, but I got to wear a gorgeous frock, eat nice food and talk to interesting people, many of whom were archaeologists.
Then last night I went to see I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue at the London Palladium! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Audience were a bit pathetic over the 'PRIZES' bit, but everything else was wonderful. It is inspiring to see Mornington Crescent played by professionals.
Just missed a train at KX and end up on the 00.06 train - which stopped at places I've never even heard of. I'm fairly convinced that they only appear every 20 years or so... Cuffley? Can't be real. Finally got home at about 2am to discover that (a) the front door was bolted and (b) the doorbell didn't work. God Bless mobile phones. Mum not too impressed (or conscious come to that), but she's just rung to reassure me it wasn't an intentional lock out. Surreal but fun. Slept forever (for me) and woke at ten to ten! Thank goodness I work at home on Mondays.
Helena Merrick never feels hugely maternal to me, but in this I can imagine she'd been driven to distraction by first worry and then by a constantly grumbling Patrick. If this had been going on for…
I really enjoyed this. As a confirmed Josephine Tey fan (and Daughter of Time is my very favourite) I became, like Patrick a Richard III apologist after reading it, so this all seems extremely…
I enjoyed this very much. We both seem to be interested in the theme of Patrick not being quite honest with Nicola, intentionally or otherwise! I haven't read any Josephine Tey but I now intend to…

And can I say that I love your Cabin Pressure…
