I'm LAME!!

The more I think about Hartpury the more I want to go... I just wish they offered accommodation as good as Liverpool John Moores!! >.

Writtle it is

Ok, so, I've made a decision.
Though, being me, this decision will likely change several times.
But basically, I'm going to apply to study at Writtle College, for a number of reasons:

1. Local town and village and campus shops and bars offer better part-time employment. Hartpury offers virtually none unless you're foreign.
2. The courses and more diverse and appealing.
3. There is more choice of accommodation (none are self-catered though; only downside).
4. Writtle has had much better student reviews than Hartpury.
5. I'll still do my MA in Equine Business Management at Hartpury College, so going to two different places gives me a more varied outlook I think.

I'm still thinking of visiting Hartpury, but I know it'll confuse me again. I've heard A LOT of negative things about Hartpury College (all except for equine facilities, which have had no end of praise). Writtle has had almost no complaints.

Decisions. Decisions.

And do I want to study Equine Sports Therapy BSc? Yes.
Will I? I've no bloody idea!!
Why? Because I really like the sound of Equine Breeding and Stud Management BSc!

Writtle v Hartpury

You guys should know by now that I'm incredibly indecisive...

...so it'll come no surprise to you that I can't decide...

Writtle College or
Hartpury

Writtle is in the lead on a lot of aspects (accommodation and employment around area are better)

but Hartpury is also really good (world renowned for equitation, and it offers self-catered accommodation).

Everyone says Writtle is much better than Hartpury for student social life, which is very true. But I'm ignoring that aspect as my deciding factor because I hate city life and clubbing and drinking for nights on end. Rural is the way to go people! =D

Also, I'm not sure I want to study Equine Breeding and Stud Management. I mean, I love the subject and it'd be great to study and will be useful to me one day... but employment for careers related to that come few and far between. Eek!

I really like Equine Sports Science (Hartpury) and Equine Sports Therapy (Writtle), though, and I always have. They are in high demand and the pay is fantastic...
And because the majority of people in that industry are self-employed, the money is really REALLY good. And, though this is shallow, I refuse to be poor! I'm poor now and I don't like it lol.

I really want to study Equine Business Management and Hartpury one day anyway, as a masters.

Hmmm... so maybe I should study my BSc at Writtle (where there is more opportunity to find a part-time job) and then study my MA at Hartpury.

I'm visiting the two universities after the New Year... so maybe it'll just come down to the 'feel' of the place. We'll see...

AWESOME!! I love how wriing it down suddenly clarifies things and makes the decision for me.
Guaranteed I'll think of some other college or course next month, lol XD

Assignments

Sitting at college, in the LRC.
I am writing this otherwise I'll end up staring at my folder without a clue as to what I'm meant to be doing. It's all to easy to get lost in my surprisingly-organised folder!

So...

Resubmissions thus far that I need to do:
LO3 Nutrition

Assignments I'm due back, likely to resub again:
LO3/4 Anatomy
LO3 Breeding and Genetics
LO4 Nutrition
LO2 Farm Livestock

New assignments still to do:
Key Skills (Animal testing article)
LO4 Farm Livestock
LO4 Breeding and Genetics
Practical assignment (not due in till March)

Everything has to be done and passed by xmas or we fail the course and are kicked out. They threatened that last year and it never happened, so I doubt there is any truth to their words.
Nevertheless, I'm not taking the chance.
What's odd is that I'm surprisingly on top of my coursework. That long list above is NOTHING compared to some people on my course.

Equine Choices

Ok,
So.... I'm very indecisive...
and although I've already sent off my UCAS application (to study wildlife conservation), I am thinking of ditching the choices when I get my acceptance/rejection letters and using UCAS's EXTRA to apply to an equine-related course;-
Writtle College - BSc Equine Breeding and Stud Management (sandwich), or BSc Equine Sports Therapy
Hartpury College - Equine Sports Science
University of the West of England - Equine Sports Science
University of Brighton - BSc Equine Sports Science

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Horses, and though I love wildlife conservation, it's something that I'd be happy volunteering every year somewhere for long vacations... so I don't mind not studying it. You know?

So, say I decided to study one of the above courses... which one?!?
I love the breeding and stud management because I hope to one day own a livery yard, and posibbly breed Friesians. Plus, I get to go abroad for a year!!! But I don't want to pick a course solely for its international possibilities.
And at the same time, I have this burning desire to study equine therapy. I can imagine myself at the races, behind the scenes, tending to stiffened horses.
Also, if I am not eligible to use Ucas's EXTRA then I may take yet another year out of college and work at my old stables and gain experience which I can use for the following year, or I could take a quick one year course in equine management at the college I'm currently at. Decisions!! I'm terrible... lol.... I can never stick to an idea.

I als have to think about funding. If I did take another year out, I'd be 20 by the time I started the course, and only a few months from 21. By the end of a 3 year course (like all but one of the above) I'll be nearing 24. I don't know if loans and grants will cover me for the full duration.... and online sites aren't answering the question for me.

HELP! >.<
