LJ is going to start deleting any journal or community that hasn't been logged into in 24 months.

So this community isn't very active, but I am not going to get rid of it, people just don't seem to have time for it.

For now, I am going to use this to post amusing character design/art related links that I think you guys would be interested in.

The deadline for the mascot contest finished three days ago, but we're going to extend the deadline until new years.

If no one other than myself and Synchra enters, then we'll put up a new contest and sort out the mascot/layout scenario amongst ourselves.

New Deadline for the Mascot Contest is 31st of December.

Character Name: Dabble the Sparrow
Stage: Mostly final, his markings might get tweaked a little more.
About: He paints with his three first wing feathers and his beret is cool. He also like interpretive dance and abstract paintings and hops along the patios of rich people making the world below their feet more colourful.
Thoughts: I had no idea where I was going with this character when I started off (as you can tell with the sketches), but then I did that sparrow sketch and I was like YES, THIS! And it stuck, and I honestly couldn't picture anything else. Most annoying when your trying to conceptualize, but sometimes you just have to go with it. The 12 sketch is exactly what he looks like in my head, though I haven't managed to replicate it sadly.
Also his name might change.

We got tired of inactivity.

Obviously people found posting sketches of character development etc. too intimidating so now all you have to do is link your gallery. Just as before we pretty much accept anyone who looks like they want to make the effort to participate in the community and understand it's meaning.

Stage: Very much a work in progress. I am trying to get advice on who to chose to develop more at this point.
About: I want the mascot to be art themed in some way.
Thoughts: It needs to be developed!

Okay so I have a lot of really rough concepts right now and I want to know which ones you guys think I should develop more for the contest. Which ones do you like/dislike more? Which ones do you think would make a better mascot character for our community?

I'll brainstorm off of the top 3 and pick who to develop more or possibly develop 2 or 3 of them to the end for the contest.

Mascot Contest
The goal of this assignment is to design a mascot for the Character Art community!
Now the mascot of Character Art is a magical creature in that it has three 'forms'. These are "Sketchy", "Work in progress" and "Finished" (though if you can think of something better, go for it, just remember to explain it in your descriptions).
The only guidelines really are that they must be in such a manner that we can use them around the layout. If you wish us to not use your specific images, then please state so when you post, or on the image. The layout will be based around the character, and you will be credited around the community.

Contest ends 15th of December.

You are designing a character, so you must think of why you are designing it. Would it be for a game? A 2D animation? A 3D animation? Is it a happy cheerful character, or a sad mopey character? What is it's personality, it's history, it's past. You don't necessarily have to write a big essay, but it's good to know a little bit about your character.

Please create a new character, don't recycle old ones.

We would like to see work in progress, sketches and working drawings before you come to your final conclusion of your character. This is a fantastic opportunity to get critique and feedback on your design. Please post most of your working art on your final post as well (it can be links). Please make sure all large images are behind a cut.

You can enter up to three characters into the voting.
