2010

There's something to be said about have a crappy year. It gives you a huge perspective on where you want to go for the next year. For all of the good and the bad 2009 is over, I'm nearly recovered from my surgery, and I'm going to start this year with one goal. I want to be a better writer. I have slacked off and my NaNo this year, or as much of it as I could finish before surgery plans got in the way, really proved that I needed to get into writing again. The writing that I was doing was horrible and told me I am way out of practice.

So, my friends, I'm going to be looking for some help in the daily writing project. There's no way in hell that I'm going to post a story a day, I'm not that kind of writer, but I am going to write everyday, and try to post at least once a month something that I've finished. I have a few pieces stored up to post also, but they need a little tweaking. But the help that I need is with prompts. So if you have something that you've really wanted to see that no one else would take on for you, or even something that you want to write but can't seem to do, I'll take them on for you.

Does that sound a little pathetic? Oh well, I really want a challenge.

Anyway, happy new year everyone. I hope 2010 is the start of a wonderful new decade for everyone.

Birthday Fic!

Happy birthday jenioctavia! I wrote you a little FMA birthday drabble!

Happy New Year

Okay, I'm a little late, but I've been a little sick. I came down with a case of broncitus, which was a lot of fun! I'm still not 100% but I'm better. It started just before Christmas and lasted until last week. Then I found out that someone slashed my tire. Normally this wouldn't be bad, but this tire has a tendency to stick and it took a nice man from Autozone putting a car jack behind the tire to get it off. And ninety dollars later it's fixed, but that took us three days to fix. And then I had an allergic reaction to the laundry soap we were using, that isn't fun, that I've finally gotten under control. I feel like my health has taken a nose dive since we moved.

In other news. My office moved, pretty much today. Well today is our first day in the new office. We're downtown Seattle now, which is kind of cool. The monotrail runs outside of our window, so we get to watch all the non-existant tourists that are heading to Seattle Center. Of course with this new location, we're getting a more stringant dress code. No more flip flops in the office, nice jeans or slacks, and no more t-shirts or tennis shoes. A lot of people in my department aren't happy with it, but I don't find it that bad. It's basically how I'd been dressing anyway. The best part is I only have to ride one bus! No more transfers. That takes a good twnety minutes off my commute both ways. And since my bus runs every fifteen minutes, I can pretty much catch a bus home pretty much as soon as I get off work.

The new office means that IT is wandering around troubleshooting any problems we have. Um...yeah...(see last post)
Anyway.

I have to get back to work. But I just wanted to check in with everyone and say I wasn't dead, yet, but it was kind of touch and go there for a while.

Oh how I love my job!

Last week I got a new flat panel moniter to replace the old CRT moniter that I got when I first started and this really hot (and I'm pretty sure Japanese) IT guy brought it to me! I was in heaven. Well it broke this morning and I was frustrated, but the really hot IT guy came to check it out for me! He brought me a new moniter. Of course I looked like a really geeky girl with FMA wallpaper and a Gundam battle on my desk. And I'm wearing a green turtle neck sweater and my new dark, thick rimmed reading glasses and my hairs a mess, so I literally look like a cosplaying otaku at work. Especially since I'm reading paperwork for government agencies.

Yeah me.

He looks like Hiro from Heros and that is so awsome.

And there was a nice amount of oogle time there. I really love my job!

This Car Buying Thing is Getting Fun!

Car dealerships (or at least their employees) seemed to be baffled when someone walks onto their dealership driving a 2005 Camary (my parent's car) to test drive used cars they don't intend to buy. It seems to baffle these dealerships (or at least the people who work in them) that no matter what is said, these used car test drivers aren't interested in buying for months. Yet, these car dealerships (and their people) accept in the end that neither my friend and I are interested in their cars. It takes three hours (three dealerships, two test drives, and no sales) to escape from their grasps after they question (so many times that I lost track) whether or not we were certain we didn't want to buy today.

It was just an experement, to test drive the cars we were thinking about maybe driving someday. A little extra research, but not an invitation to pitch your loan offers to me. Both times we stated the fact they we were just driving a too see if maybe, three months down the road, we were interested in buying these car. Three months, someting we stated up front, from buying any cars.

These sales pitches weren't really something that annoying. We got to practice saying no. Good practice saying no. And we both learned, New Beattles aren't as comfortable as you think, but PT Cruisers are nice to sit in. I may be turning my eyes on those form now on. They sit high and handle like a compact car. Gives all the comforts I like in cars (like stoarage and roomy cabins) and don't handel like a station wagon or a mini-van. That and they look cool, but that's only a small factor.

I disagree with everything the man stands for, but this is damn hilarious.

[Nano] Heading into the final week

Next Friday is the final day of November, we're heading the corner into the final sprint. So how are you doing? Do you like where you are? Is 50,000 words enough for the story? Are you going to need more?

How are you liking the process? Is it too much pressure? Have you decided to toss the whole thing away? Did RL get in the way? Are you planning on using the long weekend to catch up, maybe even pull ahead?

And, because the forums are my new favorite place on the web, I'll pull one of my favorite games. Leave a dare! Can't think of one? Well, go back to the leftover SFAH promps and grab one from there. Not NaNoing, you can still leave one. You can still take one. Only take something that you might actually use. It's a great way to get past that point that you're stuck at.

A 3,000 Word Day!

I'm not caught up yet, but getting a little bit closer. Today I should be at 25,000 words but I'm only at 18,900 or there abouts (an 800 word morning!) I feel a bit more on track for NaNo, but I'm neglecting everything else in my life.

In other news, we may have found my new car. More news on that later.
