LONDON - J.K. Rowling has completed her first book not to feature teen wizard Harry Potter an illustrated collection of magical fairy stories titled "The Tales of Beedle the Bard."
Only seven copies of the book are being printed, Rowling said Thursday. One will be auctioned next month to raise money for a children's charity, while the others have been given away as gifts.
Rowling drew the illustrations herself and provided the handwriting for the five stories that make up the collection of fairytales.
"The Tales of Beedle the Bard" is mentioned in the final Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," as a gift left by headmaster Albus Dumbledore to Harry's friend Hermione, and provides clues that help destroy evil Lord Voldemort.
"'The Tales of Beedle the Bard' is really a distillation of the themes found in the Harry Potter books, and writing it has been the most wonderful way to say goodbye to a world I have loved and lived in for 17 years," Rowling said in a statement.
The volume, bound in brown morocco leather and mounted with silver and semiprecious stones, will be auctioned at Sotheby's on Dec. 13 with a starting price of $62,000. Proceeds will go to The Children's Voice, a charity that helps vulnerable children across Europe. - SOURCE
UNFAIR!!!
Why can't I have a copy? Why, why, why? It's my 18th birthday in a few minutes---it would have been the perfect gift! Huhuhu. I want it so much it hurts! I am hating the number 7 right now. - Tags:harry potter

| I am going to turn eighteen in exactly a week! I actually don't have plans. I'm not throwing a party or going anywhere special. I've already used up my money to treat a friend who turned out pretty ungrateful which just sucks but anyway.
I have been wanting these stuff for sometime. And I know that I still won't be getting them anytime soon. We're a little short of money right now and my mom's been trying to save for my next semester. But it's free to dream right? And who cares! These material stuff won't last anyway---oh, who am I kidding.
Harry Potter box set.
This picture makes me drool everytime I see it. Even though I am a Harry Potter fan, I honestly still don't have a complete set. My first two books are now missing. I never got a copy of the third one; I borrowed from a friend back in the fourth grade. My fourth book's pretty old-looking and tattered now. I also never had a fifth book. My copy of the sixth book is the only one in good condition. And I still don't have a seventh book, too. So yeah, I really suck, and this explains why this picture is totally driving me mad with desire.
Beatles love.
This has been on my wishlist since last Christmas but I never got around to buying it because in the long run it doesn't really matter if I have a copy or not. I still want it though. It's shiny and beautiful and nothing beats The Beatles! Except probably Death Cab For Cutie. Lol. To each his own!
Princess Bride 20th Anniversary edition.
This hasn't been released yet but I doubt that it'd ever get sold in this country. I only realized a few minutes ago that the title is actually an ambigram! Lolz. When I am bored in school, I usually doodle ambigrams on paper and it really boggles me why I've never tried doing The Princess Bride before. The Dread Pirate Roberts will always be my knight in shining armor. It's him over Prince Charming on any given day! Sometimes I wish Cary Elwes never grew up, you know. Sometimes I'd also wish they'd do a remake but I am only too horrified with the possibility that they'd kill the magic of the original so never mind.
Yeah, we all live in a material world. But the truth is ... friends chump all these and the most perfect gift I could probably receive on my birthday is acceptance. I miss my old friends ... well, the people they used to be. Maybe all this rejection is preparing me for some good ol' sunshine next week. But I doubt that.
We can always dream.
UPDATE: HAPPY 45TH BIRTHDAY, CARY ELWES! - Tags:harry potter

| THE LAST ENEMY TO BE DESTROYED IS DEATH. 1 Corinthians 15:26
FOR WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS, THERE YOUR HEART WILL BE ALSO. Matthew 6:21
I first read these two lines from Deathly Hallows and I think they were great foreshadowings of what ultimately happened in the end. They served as the conclusion of the book. I was really surprised to find out that Rowling actually lifted them from the Bible, although it makes perfect sense for her to do this.
I think I'm going to reread the seventh book again especially after all the Dumbledore-Grindelwald buzz! Fandom will never be the same again. The day that Rowling made the announcement should be celebrated annually, in my opinion. ;D
Truly, Harry Potter has grown from being a children's book although it is still safe for kids to read, since the adult stuff need adult interpretations to not be kid-friendly. And I think, that's the real magic of the books. :D

NEW YORK - Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.
After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members.
She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love."
"Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause. - SOURCE
Now that was a pleasant surprise. I've read the seventh book and it was only then that I felt the possibility that Dumbledore could be gay. So, was Grindelwald also gay? I mean, now that Rowling has come out with it, she might as well make it clear. I guess this is why she also put canon 'rumors' about Harry and Dumbledore's relationship. I haven't read the book in a long time but weren't there some nasty newspaper articles in there that hinted something like that?
This is really interesting. I guess that kills the McGonagall-Dumbledore ship.
I hope that clears up what I said.
