getting things onto the walls

i need help getting artwork, small shelves, a bulletin board, etc. onto the walls.

how do people do this? -- well, i imagine many don't from what i've seen.

but i have LOVELY stuff (if i do say so myself *blush*) and want it up. AND it gets it off the floor, and shelves let me organize stuff on the walls.

Ideas for how to find help? hanging art is a two-person job. i can even pay for this help.

tks!

too many possessions = too little money

an interesting article about 'the idea of having', why we keep this stuff we don't use.

thought it might be of interest.

i keep books because they fit interests i care about but haven't pursued for some time. i need to consider how much of those i really need to keep.

i've made a feed for the site itself, at g_rich_slowly. it's been good reading, though it takes up alot of turf on my page

i'd crosspost to cash_camp, but they're mostly the same members.

Today at work I went to an identity theft prevention seminar. Does it have a lot to do with reducing clutter? Less stuff in the mail and it will be less stuff in your house. Also to limit the calls, junk mail and catalogs that you might get to lessen the temptations to spend money you should be using to pay off debt. Links are as follows.

Motivation and momentum

Our Church is going to have a yard sale on Sept. 6th. We've reserved a table to sell stuff. We're taking one huge plastic bin full of things, and a clothes rack full of clothes. Anything else that doesn't sell, will go to Savers on the way home (that's how they do it on the TV shows). Once it's out of the house, it's out of the house.

One of the bigger challenges is that one member of our family, also a hoarder, has asked for dibs on our stuff before we sell it at the yard sale. It's going to be hard to not let them take it to add to their own stuff.

I borrowed It's All Too Much from a friend, and I'm almost done with it. It has had a LOT of great tips on figuring out what you need, and what you don't.

One of the better accomplishments this week was finally doing something with the wedding flowers. We went to AC Moore and bought a shadowbox. Stained it, and then took apart my bouquet, and put that, Erik's boutonnière, our wedding invitation, and a few other items in it. We then threw out all the flowers we didn't use, my practice bouquet...and some other wedding stuff we don't need to remember the day.

Now when you walk in to the front, it looks a lot neater. With the flowers now done, we can use the wardrobe in the bedroom to store sheets and blankets and table linens.

New community

Yes, OK, I know the name sounds a little too similar to something awful, but that is sort of how I view the need to de-clutter and organize: as traumatic and scary as surgery. I wanted a place we could discuss our progress, vent and ask for support that isn't just a filter on my LJ. dee_cee and I had discussed making it a very selective community, so we all feel a bit more comfortable posting without fear of being judged.

Thoughts?
People you think we should include?
Changes we should make to it?
