Hey everyone.
I don't know if my questions have already been asked/answered, so I'm sorry if this annoys you.
1. As a Brit I have the version of DD without any special features. I've seen screenshots of "behind the scenes" or something. I was wondering if there was anywhere online I could actually see it?
2. I was watching the film again a few hours ago and I'm still stumped by some questions. (If this is spoilerish I'll be happy to put it behind a cut!)
What is the purpose of the Chinese girl (Is her name Sunita or something)? She just seems to be someone who no one respects and likes Donnie.
Does "Cellar Door" have a greater meaning? Other than the one that is described in the film.
When the school is in a hall they're watching a slideshow (I think! Sorry if thats wrong) and up comes "Frank". What is the point in this? What relation does this have to anything? Is it just to freak us out?
I'd love to hear your theories!

So being the big dork I am I had to do it. I made the Donnie Darko Soundtrack.
I figured I'd share it with everyone.
The Cover
The track List:
1. Echo and the Bunnymen : the Killing Moon
2. Tears for Fears : Head over Heals
3. Duran Duran : Notorious
4. Dead Green Mummies (Pantera) : Proud to be Loud
5. Joy Division : Love Will Tear Us Apart
6. Church : Under the Milkyway
7. Gary Jules : Mad World
If you'd like a copy leave me a message I'm thinking of making many copies and selling them for about $3.00 each if there's some interest, if not I have the best and only copy like so.
The disk would be completely black and the jewel case specially made with the design above, among some other special touches.

Hey u guys I'm new! My name's Polly and I'm just in love with this movie. I saw it the other night on TV and it was just so incredible. Jake Gyllenhall is great as Donnie and the whole concept of it all is just mind boggling (extremely lever though). The music is amazing too.
One of the greatest films of all time :D

[04 May 2005|12:29pm] |
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but...
The Donnie Darko site, what is it all about? I have tried to go through it but I get sooo confused. Does it actually go somewhere, or have something crazy in the end? Or does it just kinda give bits of information to help you understand the movie in more detail?
Thanks =)

NEWS FLASH ON MAGGIE G. JAKE G's SISTER...PEOPLE IF YOU ARE SAYING HATEFUL THINGS ABOUT HER YOU NEED TO STOP!!! 9/11 HAPPEND 3 YEARS AGO ITS TIME TO MOVE ON AND IF YOU LOST ANY ONE AT THAT TIME IM SORRY...BUT PLEASE DO NOT SAY SHIT ABOUT MAGGIE
Maggie Gyllenhaal has waded into sensitive political waters by raising questions about Sept. 11 and American foreign policy.
The 27-year-old actress, who stars in a new film about the 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center, said in an interview last week that the United States "is responsible in some way" for the attacks.
A fan Web site devoted to Gyllenhaal was overwhelmed with criticism, forcing the site's editor to remove the ability to post messages "because it's gotten too outta hand."
In a statement issued Monday by her publicist, Gyllenhaal said Sept. 11 was "an occasion to be brave enough to ask some serious questions about America's role in the world. Because it is always useful as individuals or nations to ask how we may have knowingly or unknowingly contributed to this conflict.
"Not to have the courage to ask these questions of ourselves is to betray the victims of 9/11."
She also expressed her grief for "everyone who suffered and everyone who died in the catastrophe."
Gyllenhall stars in "The Great New Wonderful," which features stories about people living in New York in the aftermath of the terror attacks. The movie is being shown at the Tribeca Film Festival, which was founded by Robert De Niro to help revitalize downtown Manhattan after Sept. 11.
Her screen credits also include "Secretary," "Mona Lisa Smile" and "Donnie Darko." She is the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She lives in Manhattan.

| Sorry... |

Sorry I didn't post when I first joined this wonderful community, and well this is my story on how I became such a big fan of Donnie Darko.
Me my mom and my sister were at Best Buy and we were looking around for movies to buy, so when I saw a DVD laying in a corner I picked it up and sure enough it was Donnie Darko so I ran over too my mom and I begged her too please! buy it and so she did, plus it was only 10 bucks! so with that I was very happy. On Monday night I was sitting down and doing my homework and I noticed that it was open but really my sister opened it arrg!!, so then I just slid it in my moms DVD player and I pressed play of course, and as soon as it started I knew I would fall in love with the movive and so I did, I kept on telling my friends they gotta see it and I was explaining the movie too everyone and I wanted Donnie Darko EVERYTHING I did all my DD shopping on Ebay! im still waiting for them to come! and i rememberd all the lines and the actions AND EVERYTHING!!, I know we all hate when people say shit like "YOUR OBESSED" "YOUR CRAZY YOU THINK YOUR FRANK OR SOMETHING?!!" we all hate that..but remember, they don't know what we see in that movie they dont know what it means too us...so please..keep the dream alive!

Donnie Darko is my absolute favorite movie. One day I found a frank stencil in one of the t-shirt communities and i decided that a Donnie Darko shirt was in order. (excuse the yellow...it was my markings for the stencil and the paint has to set another day or two before I can wash it...I was just really eager to post it)
front
back
I had to resize the shirt so it is currently sleve-less but once it has sleves again the right one will say 28:06:42:12 in the same style as it was written on Donnie's arm
I hope you like it!
If you really like it a lot I do sell them on my journal.

Hi, I am new to this community and I thought I'd introduce myself. First off I would just like to say that I'm in love with the movie Donnie Darko. I think it was one of the best films ever made. The whole story was really good. I just loved it! All the roles were cast wonderfully. And one of my favorite parts was when his sister told him to "go suck a fuck". Well, I just thought I'd make myself known. So later gators!

I'm sry if this post is stupid, you can delete it then.
I just changed my layout (or, holding_marilyn did) and I wanted some opinions on it. I wanted it Donnie Darko style. Can't stop thinking about that movie. I bought the soundtrack too.
Just comment in my journal if you bother. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm new.
( My Donnie Darko experienceCollapse )
Anyway my question was is there a difference between the normal version and the directors cut? If so, what is the difference? I don't even know which version I've seen, when I rented it they didn't have the cover.

Well hello thehhh! I havent updated in here for a while. I'm a huge dork because i didnt know the Directors Cut was out, so yeah i was walking around in Best Buy and it just happened to be on the shelf, fully in stock. I guess noone down here in Tampa, FLA likes DD as much as I do. Anywho, I grabbed it and went looking for my friends. I found them and we were leaving as we went through the door the alarm goes off and two security ppl walk up and snatch the DVD away from me. It was the hardest thing trying to get my story across the cops, but oh well. So I'm not aloud back in that mall.... Yeah just thought I'd share that.
You're such a fuckass.
