RV from Hell 2.0
Rob, way back when, had saw a lego creation of mine and dubbed it "the RV from hell." Mind you, this was an 8 wheel drive vehicle that measured about 10 inshces long and could go over everything short of a stair.
Well, I've been "tweeking" the design. And by tweeking, I mean, I took it appart and am starting all over. The new version is only a 4wd, but while the old used 2" baloon tires, the new one uses the 12" (Yes, 12 INCH) tires from the hellfire droid set. The old version had to be driven around by hand. The new version is remote control, using three motors from the old Manta sets. One remote, but with a switch to change it from one motor to another. One is driving (Using three differential gears for all wheel drive functionality, and both the front and back wheels turn to give it a good turning radius), the second is for the main cannon (With a barell made of 1/4 curved wall panels, each panel being 6x6x6. The barel is almost big, once together, to fit my hand inside it), and the last is for height control, allowing it to go higher or lower depending on the terrain, as well as allow two decks be lowered to the ground for personel to be able to embar, disembark. There is also a touch sensitive ramp on the front, which when pushed will make a set of arms go through a basic motion of "climbing" over whatever it had touched. In short, it can now go up stairs with the greatest of ease.
The final dimension? Unknown. I still have to finish building it's flight deck, as well as cockpit and crew quarters. But, currently, it's 15" high, 28" long, and 14" wide. I figure the width is the only dimension that will not increase. The cannon hasn't actually been mounted yet which will add to the height, and the flight deck will add to it's length.
Did I mention I have a tendency to go overboard? The lego figures look like ants on it right now.
