Was anybody else completely unnerved and disgusted about the fact that Snape and Lily had been friends for over five years? And then with him harboring an unhealthy obsessive love for her until the day he died?
I suppose that's typical for a huge Marauders obsessed Lily/James shipper, but did JKR really have to do that? I was indifferent to the character anyways, but now I really harbor a deep dislike for him.
Any mutual feelings?
EDIT: XD Okay so not a lot of people felt the same...I rarely say this about myself, but maybe I'm still a bit too immature to relate to such a deep love like that.
SECOND EDIT: Okay, NOWWW I remember what exactly it was that disgusted me about it: The fact that at first he was willing to let James and Harry die as long as Lily live. I just didn't like that at all. Only after Dumbledore pointed it out did he say "Fine, protect them all!". But Dumbledore had to point it out. And yes...that's why his love unnerved me.

1. Would Harry still be a Parseltongue? This was a skill he acquired when Voldemort left a bit of his soul with Harry and now that isn't there any more, would Harry retain this? JRK really didn't offer a sufficient explanation for this.
2. Why does everyone assume that the love Snape had for Lily was romantic love? There are other kinds of love that would produce that kind of loyalty. I can see Snape being romantically in love with Harry's mom, but I'm still not completely sold on that plot. Knowing now that they had grown up together makes me wonder if maybe the love between them was that of two best friends and when Lily married James, Snape felt betrayed by his friend. The day he called her a Mudblood he deeply regretted losing his one and only true friend at that point in his life.
