WalkthroughThe change adds overload-aware TypeScript class member inference for declared and implemented methods. Promise classification now uses simplified constructed lookup state and preserves lookup modes across bindings, imports, and exports. Tests cover instance and static overloads, promise classifications, normalised types, and selective inference queries. I'm not comfortable with the fact that it removed something we recently added, which improved performance for certain cases. What's the reason for removing it?
This is used for class accessors e.g. new Foo() and new foo.Bar()

binding_range was previously used to look up the original syntax of the class to scan for overloads. This PR makes it so that method signatures are stored in the raw class data, so it no longer needs to do that lookup and scan.

Yeah I'm running this against some ecosystem ci projects and its not looking great... |

Review Summary
The PR addresses #11390 by teaching biome_js_type_info to collect TsMethodSignatureClassMember nodes as class members and by making member lookup/promise classification treat declaration class methods as first-class members. The changeset is accurate and a focused test has been added. The implementation looks plausible, but the scope of the new class-member ambiguity handling is broader than the PR summary and should be confirmed as safe for non-promise consumers.
I could not load the referenced biome-code-review skill because the skill file is not present in this checkout, so the review below follows the same scope directly from the diff and head files.
Findings
2 findings were added inline.
low/correctnesscrates/biome_module_graph/src/db/type_inference/promise_classification.rs:838-857- Promise classification returns Indeterminate for any duplicate class member. The removedclass_member_has_overload_signatureAST scan used to let promise classification proceed when a class member had no overload signature. The new code returnsIndeterminatefor any class that contains two same-name, same-static members. This matches the new unit test for overloaded methods, but it also broadens Indeterminate for non-constructed modes (e.g. static overloaded calls viaValue). The tradeoff is reasonable given the targeted fix, but verify that intentionally losing conclusive results for overload-adjacent members is acceptable across the lint consumers.
Questions
-
Is the change intentional that
find_member_type_on_demandnow returnsSome(Unknown)for any class with multiple same-name members (overloads, getter+setter pairs, etc.), rather than only during promise classification? -
What happens for a regular (non-declaration) class that has a method implementation plus separate overload signatures: does the new ambiguity rejection regress member/type lookup that previously selected the implementation?
-
Have snapshot tests in the affected crates, as well as the linter snapshots for
noFloatingPromises, been run and verified unchanged in addition to the new unit test?

-
Changeset:
.changeset/few-buckets-jump.mdis present and correctly describes a patch-level user-facing fix. -
Brief: Collect TypeScript method signatures in declaration/abstract classes so
noFloatingPromisescan classify calls without falling back to full call inference; treat ambiguous/overloaded class members as Unknown/Indeterminate. -
Validation: Static review only; no project code was run.

medium/design: Class member ambiguity now returns Unknown for all consumers
The new reject_ambiguous_named_members flag is only enabled for InferredTypeData::Class, so any class with multiple same-name members (e.g. overloads, getter/setter pairs, or an abstract signature plus implementation) now returns InferredTypeData::Unknown from find_member_type_on_demand/find_member_type_with_resolver. This is a wider change than the PR summary (which targets noFloatingPromises); other callers such as call-argument inference now also see Unknown. Confirm that this degradation is acceptable, or restrict the ambiguity rejection to the promise classifier instead of the shared lookup path.

optional/maintainability: Duplicate logic between JsMethodClassMember and TsMethodSignatureClassMember arms
Both arms build an almost identical Function value, differing only in body (Some(...) vs None) and is_optional. Extracting a helper would reduce duplication and make future fixes (e.g. for abstract method signatures) less error-prone.

I had my clanker run this change on some ecosystem CI projects:
But IMO the only thing that tells us is that these projects didn't hit this regression, because the repro from the issue went from 3.318s → 0.0698s. |
|
Using the ecosystem CI isn't reliable, because you need to rely on the project using the type inference, and the right rule. We don't know if they do. For example, |

I had it enable type inference for the run. |

You should still address the review, it seems it found good things. |

Interpolations followed by text now also converge after one formatting pass. ```diff -<v-btn v-if="store.state.user" variant="text" to="/my-rooms" - >{{ $t("nav.my-rooms") }}</v-btn -> +<v-btn v-if="store.state.user" variant="text" to="/my-rooms">{{ + $t("nav.my-rooms") +}}</v-btn> ``` - [#11191](biomejs/biome#11191) [`3e5367f`](biomejs/biome@3e5367f) Thanks [@ematipico](https://github.com/ematipico)! - Added the nursery rule [`noUndeclaredCustomProperties`](https://biomejs.dev/linter/rules/no-undeclared-custom-properties/), which reports references to custom properties that are not defined in available CSS, static HTML-like `style` attributes, or JSX string `style` attributes. For example, the following snippet triggers the rule: ```css a { color: var(--undefined-color); } ``` - [#11435](biomejs/biome#11435) [`7754894`](biomejs/biome@7754894) Thanks [@levrik](https://github.com/levrik)! - Fixed: Variables and imports used as custom Vue directives are no longer reported as unused. For example: ```vue <script setup> const vHighlight = { mounted: (element) => { element.style.color = "red"; }, }; </script> <template> <p v-highlight>Hello</p> </template> ``` - [#11501](biomejs/biome#11501) [`e6acded`](biomejs/biome@e6acded) Thanks [@aminya](https://github.com/aminya)! - Improved the performance of [`useArraySortCompare`](https://biomejs.dev/linter/rules/use-array-sort-compare/) by skipping type inference for calls to unrelated methods. - [#11467](biomejs/biome#11467) [`66b282c`](biomejs/biome@66b282c) Thanks [@dyc3](https://github.com/dyc3)! - Fixed [#11464](biomejs/biome#11464): Biome now parses parenthesized object literals returned from arrow functions when they contain a conditional expression and a nested arrow function. - [#11456](biomejs/biome#11456) [`db9aa2a`](biomejs/biome@db9aa2a) Thanks [@dyc3](https://github.com/dyc3)! - Fixed [#10278](biomejs/biome#10278): Marked the fix for [`noThisInStatic`](https://biomejs.dev/linter/rules/no-this-in-static/) as unsafe by default. - [#11502](biomejs/biome#11502) [`652aedb`](biomejs/biome@652aedb) Thanks [@levrik](https://github.com/levrik)! - `noGlobalAssign` no longer reports assignments to a Vue `<script setup>` binding from a template expression, when the binding's name happens to match a built-in global (e.g. `open`, `parent`, `top`). For example, this no longer triggers a diagnostic: ```vue <script setup> const open = defineModel(); </script> <template> <button @click="open = !open">Toggle</button> </template> ``` </details> --- ### Configuration 📅 **Schedule**: (UTC) - Branch creation - At any time (no schedule defined) - Automerge - At any time (no schedule defined) 🚦 **Automerge**: Disabled by config.
