 Hi everyone!
I had a livejournal years ago but am happy to be back, determined to find support on my path to recovery, and help others struggling with the same diseases/addictions/traumas. I will post tonight on my page a summary of my first step so those of you who want to can get to know me a little better. Thank you all for being here and looking forward to sharing my experiences, struggles, strengths, and hopes.

Happy boxes are not dead! [08 Oct 2008|09:14pm]

Hey everyone. I know this community has pretty much died off, but I wanted to encourage members to still post! Happy boxes are so important! I couldn't find any photos of mine in here (I don't know where I hosted them, but I must have posted them at some point), so I'll try to take new photos and post them soon (even though my box has been damaged a bit from my degus at one point). My happy box is years old and everything in it is from years ago, but it's still quite nice. I should put newer things in it too sometime. Anyway, I feel like I should take photos and such, cos the links that explained what happy boxes are all suffer from link-rot now. Also, this community could use some reviving! I should really look at my happy box more, it's so easy to forget about it sometimes! But, it used to get me through some really tough moments! I'm so grateful for how much nikaroo13 contributed to mine. I should put more recent things from her and other friends in my happy box. :)

In case you didn't realise, I'm your mod who has had several different names over the years we've had this community. nikaroo13 and I created this community. I have been petpenguins, penguingirlie and whispering_ibis while I've been running this community. Sorry I haven't kept it more active, it's hard to keep it active by myself!!

Any comments here giving any new users (if there are any) information about happy boxes or new posts explaining about happy boxes would be more than welcome and quite appreciated! For now, I suggest new users go back through the entries that are here to get ideas. I'll try to get round to updating the user info and everything soon!

Always,
Elsh

ETA: I found a link explaining them. If I find any more good ones, I'll add them on. This is now the community's link to explain to people...

I also gave the community a new wallpaper since the other one wasn't working any longer. :)

Here's an online happy box of sites to visit when you feel down. I can't guarantee they will help, but they've helped me before:

Hey, I'm TigerLouise, I created my live journal to help me deal with the issues around self harm and food issues. I came across Happybox and it seems cool. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself

I screwed up with the Soulscars LJ. I had to delete it, and start this one. I think I friended everyone I had at the Soulscars LJ, but if I missed you, or you just feel like adding me, please feel free. Full explanation is up at the new LJ. Thanks.

New Here [21 Nov 2006|04:06pm]

I've only just recently (last year or so) done research on SI. This is the first I've really heard about the "happy box." I think it's fantastic! Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. I just created my LJ today, so there's not much to look at, but I do plan to update it regularly. It's mostly a place for me to rant without worrying about who's watching. But I also hope it will help other people dealing with SI. So, please feel free to friend me. Thanks!

Hi. Just joined. Looks like this community is sorta dead (as said in the last post-four months ago) but I don't care. I've had a happy box for a while. It's the shoebox my favorite shoes came in. There's this cool painting on the top and I covered the bottom with this colorful wrapping paper I love. It's got ticket stubs, writstbands, drawings and other things my friends made me, and some other misc. things. Some of the stuff doesn't make me very happy anymore but I don't know what to do with it (it's stuff my ex-bff gave/made for me and though our friendship is dead and has been for nearly two months i still feel bad getting rid of it). If my computer had a burner, I'd make a "happy cd" to put in there but, alas, i can't. Oh well. Hi to anyone who still reads things posted on this community.

THE RAIN [01 Aug 2005|10:06pm]

Well this is for people that cut and dont mind geting wet. When it is pouring rain roll down the window and stick your arm out. It only works if you are doing at least 40 but it make your arm go numb and just be for that it feels like you have like 500 needles going in to your arm.

Heya, erm I just kinder wanted to say hi. I'm new (obviously) but I think the idea of a happy box is a brillant one. I've just been a little stuck for ideas as to what to put into it. I was wondering if anyone would be able to suggest a few ideas please?

Thanks
Take care

i made my gf a happy box for xmas. she should get it in the mail today.
i used a nice storage box, cloth covered with green and tan on the outside and this cool bright orange on the inside.
the lid is attatched at one side and i lined the inside of it with this gauzy fabric so that it falls down into the rest of the box under the things i put in. i put a pic of a flower and under it says "get happy!"
i got her a book of lesbian erotica hehe and a bunch of fun toys. like the ones that come in plastic eggs from bubble gum machines. and some neon colored modling clay and some sand art stuff. i cut out a bunch of smiles from magazines and dropped them randomly in there. some stickers. and a teddy bear. and a night light of the boogie man from nightmare before xmas cuz she is scared of the dark.
i hope she likes it!
i hope she gets it soon! im gonna call her when she gets it. :D
