I was trying to get my mother to type herself, and she tested herself as an ISTJ. She freely admits that she has spent decades crushing her N side (long story)...I know that my mother is naturally an N. So the question becomes which is the most relevant? What is ultimately the most accurate assessment of someone? If someone consistently goes against their "natural" type, what does that mean for the people who interact with them?
For the record, we also discussed that she generally really fits P more than J, and I suspect that a lot of the J answers she gave really came from her incredibly strong T (my mother might as well be a Vulcan)...but I think INTJ fits her better than INTP...and both fit her better than ISTJ or P, imo, but there's always that danger in typing someone by how you see them. Still, she did admit that her N was much higher. So.
