A few things from today

A new combo that I read about in Kandice's color blog, coloraddiction, is light turquoise with CiM leaky pen layered over top.

light turquoise, CiM leak pen, encased with clear, then one end was dipped in reduction frit. The pink dots are rubino oro.

This implosion pendant was exciting because I used a transparent colour in it. I put dots of the CiM leaky pen onto the maria first, THEN right on top of them, dots of light turquoise. This opens up lots of possibilities for implosion colour combinations. Transparents on their own get lost in the clear of an implosion.

Light turquoise and CiM leaky pen vortex pendant. The bead release broke so I lost the shape.

Notes on Pink Slipper Bead Release:
I am undecided if I like this stuff or not. I find it doesn't flame dry very well. It tends to spark off if you don't flame dry it just right. And it takes forever to dry, and even when you think it's dry, often it's not, and you end up with air bubbles coming up through your bead. It breaks a lot when it hasn't been air dried.
But - if it is air dried overnight before using, it seems to be freaking tough as nails. It's hard to get the leftover bits of release off the mandril. I've bent mandrils using this stuff because it's hard to get the bead off easily, too. But it cleans off really nicely.
I've been having trouble making fun bubbles (my mom's name for the baubles I make) with this stuff, and I don't have any other bead release right now. So that's frustrating. It just seems to not like the bigger mandrils. I'm not sure if I've given it a full air-dry chance on them or not though.

Here's a vortex pendant with light turquoise and ink blue.

I also tried a few beads with opal yellow and intense black.

Here's a little tab bead with just those two colours. Lots of neat webbing. Does intense black do this on everything, or just certain colours? I know it does it on ivory.

A barrel bead I made using vetrofond black (on the ends), opal yellow and intense black (middle bit), and some reduction frit that I didn't reduce. I just cooked the hell out of this thing playing with different shapes before I finally decided to just make it a barrel and be done with it.
