The results section of our show

I have tallied up the survey results. For the bead buyers survey, I got about 70 responses. The bead makers survey only got 4 respondants. I still feel like I got some good information though.

The survey results can be found here.

Based on these results, I think I am switching back to Etsy for a while. After this week. I'm getting some sales on eBay, and I am definitely making more money than it is costing me to list there, but some weeks a lot of my profit is going to the eBay fees, which is annoying. Plus, according to the survey, people seem to prefer Etsy. Of course, the majority of the people surveyed came from the craftgrrl community I think, which I know is a different audience/market than what is represented on the internet as a whole. Still, 90% of people who took the survey at least used Etsy at some time or another, which is a huge percentage. 75% of people used eBay - still a large number I suppose. eBay was a fairly close second to Etsy overall. Etsy is very trendy right now. I have done well on Etsy before, but only when I have the time to post auctions very frequently. I think that I am getting enough time in to make beads lately that I will be able to list quite often. I've never managed to have this many items on eBay at once, and it makes me sad to see so many going without bids each week. I tend to relist them once or twice, then put them in with my stock for local craft fairs - which is fine because I need stock for those too - but I feel like it's all work that should have the capability of being sold online. It's just a question of marketing it properly.

Anyway, there are a lot of things I would have done differently if I were to do this survey again. Maybe I will do another one in 6 months or something.

Oh, and I did the draw for the beads, and notified the winner. Sorry to everybody else, but thanks so much for participating!
