Project Clean needs your help!

[19 Sep 2005|11:35pm]

Help make a difference in Metro Detroit!

Detroit Synergy’s Project Clean is helping Bust Blight again!
As a part of Comcast’s nationwide volunteer campaign, Comcast Cares Day, Detroit Synergy along with NCCJ and other community groups will be volunteering for the Motor City Blight Busters in this day long event on October 1st, from 8am to 3pm.

Volunteers will meet at the Blight Busters headquarters -- located at 17405 Lahser -- for registration. We will be working in the Artists’ Village, a developing art and music community, as well as surrounding areas in the Northwest neighborhood. We will be doing a little bit of everything, including painting and cleaning. All participants will receive a t shirt that day; food, gloves and other tools and equipment will also be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please contact Jen at clean@detroitsynergy.org. All those interested must volunteer by September 30th, and will have to fill out a waiver form to be handed in on the day of the event at time of registration.

If you aren't available to help on October 1st, we will also be volunteering for the Fall Super Makeover on October 22nd from 9am to 1pm in Downtown Detroit. Please contact Jen at clean@detroitsynergy.org or visit http://www.theworldiscoming.com/supermakeover.html for more info.

Spread the word! x-posted everywhere...

Help Project Clean bust blight with Motor City Blight Busters

[26 May 2005|08:30am]

x-posted everywhere

Detroit Synergy's Project Clean is teaming up with Motor City Blight Busters to clean the streets of Detroit on Saturday, June 4, 2005.

Volunteers will meet across the street from Motor City Blight Busters' headquarters (17405 Lasher, Detroit 313-255-4355) at 8:30 AM for instructions and to experience "Artists' Village," an art and music installation.

Cleaning will take place from 9 AM - 2 PM within a 4-block radius of Blight Busters' headquarters. Please bring your own outdoor cleaning supplies, such as gloves, brooms, rakes, shovels, clippers, etc. You may also want to bring water and lunch/snacks, or food can be purchased from vendors at "Artists' Village" or at nearby businesses.

Everyone is invited to participate so spread the word around! Please RSVP to Jen at clean@detroitsynergy.org by May 31st. Late RSVPs are welcome but we need to give Blight Busters a headcount before the event. Hope to see you on June 4!

If you can't come out with this event, not to worry, there will be more opportunities to help out! Please visit http://www.detroitsynergy.org/projects/clean for more information.

P.S.- "Get In The Hunt" is also on June 4, so why not clean with Blight Busters until noon, then head downtown for the scavenger hunt?

Detroit Synergy is a vehicle for metro-Detroit residents to develop and implement their ideas for a thriving, vibrant city. As a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization, it strives to mobilize community participation and empower Detroiters to discover and enhance all that the city has to offer. Since being incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2002, Detroit Synergy has conceptualized and realized projects that have contributed to improving the economic, social, and physical quality of Detroit.

Detroit Synergy (www.DetroitSynergy.org) is a nonprofit volunteer group dedicated to changing negative perceptions about Detroit and making the city a better place in which to live, work and play. They are hosting Project Clean, a series of Detroit beautification efforts that will be held throughout the summer.

The first event is Motor City Makeover on Saturday, May 14th from 9am to 2pm. Volunteers will meet at a site designated by the city for Detroit Synergy. You will get free garbage bags, gloves and masks, courtesy of the city. You are encouraged to bring your own rakes, brooms and other items to assist in cleaning. (Please label them as yours.) Also, be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

There will be a friendly competition with other volunteer groups to see who collects the most trash. The winners receive prizes from the city. The winning group receives Tigers tickets, a certificate of appreciation and a meeting with the mayor.

If you would like to volunteer, or for more information, please contact Jen at clean@detroitsynergy.org by April 29th. (Last minute sign-ups accepted too, but try to sign up early because the city wants a headcount.) People of all ages are welcome, so please spread the word!

Other ways to help:
If you can't come out for the Motor City Makeover, there will be more opportunities over the summer to help out. Visit http://www.detroitsynergy.org/projects/clean for more information.

3 Lonely Nights| Meet Someone New

well this explains it:

[01 Sep 2004|12:53am]

So what are the ingredients of a sexy name? For boys, a good name will contain vowel sounds made at the front of the mouth, such as 'e' or 'i' sounds; names with fuller, rounder vowel sounds such as 'u' tend to score lower. So pat yourself on the back if you're called Ben... but if your name is Paul you might have to work harder to snare a date.
