Mini Muses Restart prompt 1A

Neither is a dictionary a bad book to read. There is no cant in it, no excess of explanation, and it is full of suggestions, the raw material of possible poems and histories.

Max in the paint

Prompt 16.1.b

"Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them." A.A. Milne

Max and Tally sat at a corner table as the other kids played. Tally didn't seem to be affected by it, and Max was trying not to act like it bothered him. He kept glancing over his shoulder as the kids played and Tally smacked the table. Max looked at her and raised his hand.

'What?' he asked with a grimace.

Tally ignored the attitude and raised her own hand. 'Go play.'

Max shook his head and frowned as he looked back to the page in front of him. Tally huffed and returned to her own work. Max didn't like the other kids at the school and they didn't like him. He didn't really know why they didn't like him, aside from the fact that he was friends with Tally. Maybe it was because she was the Princess, or because she was deaf.

Or it was because he grew up on a spaceship; didn't talk very well; didn't have the greatest social skills. Maybe it was because his mother was a queen.

The Sea (For mini_muses Prompt 17.2)

"Listen, because this is a really scary story even though it doesn't seem that way right away." said Lynn, to her little brother. Mommy had her babysitting today, and she HATED babysitting. It was boring and little kids never seemed to do anything fun.

"Once upon a time, there was a princess who lived in a isolated castle in a far away land with the Queen and the Queen's evil mother. The princess couldn't stand to be in the castle anymore, so she escaped. She ran and ran and the Queen's evil mother found her and threw her to lions!
