Diz had been working for several hours straight, since her meeting with t'Nal, and she had gotten a decent amount of work done. She didn't think she'd be able to start proper work on the virus for another day or two, but based on what she had been descovering about the changeling, and what her precessor had found out she had several ideas to work out. But now was time for a break and a meal. She and Zhada found a table in the bar.

Matt waited patiently for O'Donnell to get to her ship. He had a request and it was going to be very strange and dangerous, and while he might be able to ask family, they were a bit busy at the moment.

Matt took him from the lab and started explaining what things were as the went through the corridors leading to the promenade. He filled in the rules and answered questions about the history and the way things were set up here. As they came to the promenade Matt opened his hands towards it and smiled.
"Here's the heart of it, where the peopleactually live and interact with each other."

Dizhei had spent the last few hours in the lab, waiting for t'Nal and Hill to show up. She had been talking to Yhea, telling him about the current state of their end of the galaxy, or what she knew anyway. She had never taken that much of an interest in politics or current affairs beyound how it affected her and her family. Yhea had asked a few questions about her family, and past, but after a few brief, non-committal answers he had given up, which Dizhei was glad about, and especially glad Zhada wasn't there to hear her evasiveness. They had turned to more general topics, when Zhada showed up, who was happy to tell Yhea about school, and the other children.
OOC: Yeah I know back posting this late, but at the time I had assumed T would post this, but then Colleen posted, and I've been debating whether to do this or not since, as well as being busy with revision, work and other stuff, and things are finally settling down, even though exams still have yet to start.

Rigo and Colleen had mapped out some of their plan, and then spoken to Henry about technology. Colleen had been reluctant to tell Henry what they were doing, but he wasn't stupid, and he figured it out pretty quickly. His exact words had been, "You're both crazy, and I want you back in one damn piece." It was rare that Henry would swear, but in this case, he had obviously chosen his words to emphasize the fact that he wasn't kidding. Colleen knew Rigo and Henry had argued a fair amount in the past, about safety, about ships, about pretty much everything. Rigo always taking the standpoint that you do what you have to, to complete your mission, and Henry arguing that you protect your ship and yourself even if it means you have to come back later.
It had been two years since Henry and Rigo spoke, mainly because Rigo's last heated words to Henry were, "Safety is the reason why you're back on base when we do the real work." But they seemed to be getting along okay now, even if there was the tension from the idea of Colleen going into danger with someone Henry didn't entirely approve of. Now, after having gotten permission from Henry to refit Rigo's ship with his technology and have Henry scour every inch of both the Eagle and the Raptor, Rigo's baby, they decided to go to the Brig. Colleen had no doubt her parents would worry sick if they didn't know who she was going with, and when she was leaving. They had agreed on Thursday afternoon. The sooner the better. They walked in, got clearance to enter, and saw that Matt wasn't there. *Probably at work,* Colleen thought. *Scrubbing floors or something...* She turned to her parents. "Hi...I brought someone for you to meet."

Matt sat and read over the last pieces of the letter and then sealed it to a code that Tink had designed and given he and Hawk the key for. And waited. As usual he didn't have to wait long before the enigma that was their resident Romulan came into the office.
"So Commander, have you put the same pieces together that I have?"
"That we have a founder on our hands." She answered calmly. "From what we gathered in the other universe they created a virus that would have wiped them out, if their Bashir hadn't gotten sympathetic to it."
Matt looked at her for a moment. "No."
He watched her eyebrow move up a carefully considered amount. "Ideals are well and good. But they can get you more than killed in this case, they could counteract everything you are trying to do."
"I have a plan that could potentially solve the issue, but I want to see what the Klingons say to Hawk and Elizabeth first."
He watched her try to puzzle out the plan. After a few moments she sighed. "Very well. Will you at least let sh'Dani start working on the idea so that we have it should the worst happen? It seems a shame to not use the likely intelligence we have about their homeworld's location prior to them knowing we are here."
"It may be a shame, but it wouldn't be right to use that information."
"Right or not, the Federation was nearly destroyed by them, and their space was a lot more cohesive than any coalition you are likely to get."
Matt shrugged. "If we go against the ideals in an attempt to defend them we negate their very existence." He smiled at her. "We have a chance to show one of them the ideals, the good parts, what we are striving towards. If we are to be damned, than let us be damned for what we really are."
t'Nal smiled slightly "Mnhei'sahe." Her statement was simple. He smiled, he wasn't sure a human could actually understand that word, the fact that she used it to reference his stance on this was something he appreciated though. He inclined his head politely to her.
"sh'Dani can start developing it, as long as she also developed an antidote. Agreed?" again she nodded slightly. This woman could definatly give him the creeps.
"Okay then. Let's go to the Science Lab and see how much progress our guest has made."

Colleen had argued for a bit with Rigo about seeing Hill. He didn't want to call attention to himself, and she insisted that Hill wasn't a threat. It clearly had confused him--she was always the one to take the stance of keeping a low profile when around leaders of any kind of outpost. But then she brought out the transponder, and said, "I have to be up front with you. We're being covered while we do this, Rigo. And Hill is providing the cover. If you don't know who he is, you're not going to agree to that. So you need to meet him. I need to prove to you that he's not betraying us."
So off they went. She rang the doorchime, and straightened Rigo's collar for him. His shirt was torn in the back, but she knew Hill wouldn't care. Rigo had insisted on shaving before going in, though. He was clearly nervous. She smiled at him, and pushed him in when the door opened.

Rigo stepped out of the airlock, after arguing with a very confused-looking Cataxian about the safety of his ship. He didn't trust anyone on this place, yet. But the woman had acted like he was insane, insisting that no mechanic tweaked anything, and no one entered, until he was present. The inspection hadn't taken long, and the security officers departed after getting dirty looks from Rigo. He didn't have any weapons visible, or detectable. They were all hidden and cloaked. He wasn't planning on using them unless it was necessary. He was armed, but his weapons were built into his clothes.
Thoroughly annoyed by the inspection and ready to find Colleen and get her the hell out of this place, he slung his one bag over his shoulder and proceeded to find his guest quarters.
*Guest quarters.* He nearly snorted. *What kind of place is this?*
He dumped his bag in the assigned room, marveled at how it wasn't teeming with rodents or insects, but actually looked clean, and then proceeded to look for Colleen. He got information from a few...slaves?...*FORMER slaves* he reminded himself. *These people are liberated.* He went straight to the school, and smiled at the sight he saw, looking in the window. There was his friend, a few years older and a bit taller than he remembered, but teaching a classroom-full of little children. He nearly burst out laughing at the sight, and caught her attention by waving.

Colleen sat at her console while the kids were away. A group was with Henry, and another was at the holosuite with Amanda, for music lessons. She had some time to herself, because after their lessons they would go directly to lunch. And she would show up at the last minute for that, and bring them back for their math / science lesson. She would have to put the curtain up and give Diz's science class some individual work today, while she taught the math class.
She had been checking some messages from trader friends of hers, looking through the goings-on with some of her acquaintances and seeing if there were any openings for a quick run.
A message came in from Rigo, her twenty-four-year-old friend who had helped her escape from three prisons, steal seven barrels of Katarian Whiskey for Andrus, and lent her his ship on one occasion. He had news regarding Karollin, the four-armed Ferrenian who had been a continuous nuisance for Colleen ever since she was sixteen.
( Read more...Collapse )
Colleen sat back, astounded. Someone had murdered Wotin...and his lifemate and three little children. The children were...Colleen counted in her head...four, two, and newborn. She rubbed her eyes, taking a deep breath. Now Forper and Karollin would form an alliance, steal the defense database, and sell it to the Alliance. Unless she contacted Rigo soon. She clenched her fist, trying to get rid of some of her anger before she needed to be near Keith again. Staring at the sentence about the murders, she couldn't help but slam her fist down on the screen angrily. "Dammit!" She yelled, and then closed her eyes. She took another deep breath. *Just plan it out, Colleen. You'll get him. Make your move against Karollin and Forper. Get Rigo to help. And avenge Wotin and his family's deaths. Save the defense database. Get back out there into the quadrant and do what you do best.* She resolved to listen to herself. She would leave soon.

"I did good?" he asked cautiously.
She put her hand on his cheek. "You did good."
