(Are you experiencing practical changes toward a decarbonized society in your neighborhood?)
Many people talk about decarbonizing society, but I have yet to see any drastic changes happening in my own neighborhood.
Why do companies hesitate to install solar panels on their facility roofs?
Why don't bus and train companies install solar panels on the roofs of bus stops and stations? I'm not sure but if they did, they could charge waiting customers a small fee to plug in their devices and sell the surplus electricity to the power company.
I'm not entirely sure, but is there any chance they could leverage something like GX transition bonds or J-credits?
Generating a profit from that seems like a tough hurdle, though.
Since you can see inside the cafes facing the street, I often notice them serving drinks in single-use cups. Because of this, it seems like many of them don't think about environmental issues. I wonder how many cafes use green energy for their businesses.
Personally, I think businesses should charge an extra fee to customers who plug in their devices on-site.
I would thank businesses if they switched to renewable energy.
Currently, as part of the push toward decarbonization, there are massive investments being made in EVs, semiconductors, and other industries. However, I want to know what local governments and other companies are actually doing on a practical level to achieve decarbonization.
This might relate to what I wrote yesterday.
I'm not sure but since it remains uncertain which energy source will become the next-generation mainstream, local governments and most companies are hesitant to invest in major projects unless they are actively promoted and supported by the national government.
While Tokyo appears to be focusing heavily on hydrogen energy, I assume it likely supports other renewable energy initiatives as well.
There will be numerous studies and developments regarding decarbonization, and hopefully, we will see more eco-friendly and efficient energy sources and products in the future. However, because we are currently in a transition period, there is a risk of temporary environmental degradation due to building new facilities, expanding industries, and developing products aimed at this goal. I think we need to consider how to bridge this gap and find ways for individuals to cooperate and contribute to environmental improvement.
