特に企業の皆様に、省エネを頑張っていただきたく思っています。
I want businesses to enthusiastically tackle energy saving because it has a huge impact on reducing greenhouse gases.
個人的な話ですが、去年の夏はクーラー無しで過ごしてみました。
I spent last summer without air conditioning.
その結果、パフォーマンスは落ち、夜は寝苦しかったです。おすすめはしません。
As a result, I think my performance dropped and my sleep quality declined. I would never recommend it.
そして、スーパーマーケットや商業施設に行くと、寒すぎるくらいエアコンが効いていて、もうちょっと省エネを頑張っていただきたいなぁ、と思ったことを覚えています。
Whenever I went to supermarkets or shopping malls, I felt too cold because of the air conditioning and always wondered why they didn't think about saving energy.
オフィスでも、男性に合わせて温度を下げて、女性はカーディガンを羽織る、といった企業は、結構多いのではないかと思います。
I imagine that in many offices, men tend to prefer colder temperatures, so women end up having to wear cardigans because it's too cold for them.
みなさん、頭が良い方が多いと思いますので、もう少し工夫していただけないでしょうか？

よく言われることですが、サーキュレーターなどで空気を循環させてエアコンの温度を下げる、といったことは、すぐにでもできると思います。
We often hear that using a circulator with an air conditioner can save energy by allowing you to lower the temperature setting.
機械音痴の私が知っている範囲では、サーキュレーターも、DCモーターの方がACモーターのものよりも、省エネになると思います。
As far as I know, even though I'm not great with technology, a circulator with a DC motor is more energy-efficient than one with an AC motor.
温度を下げて快適な空間を維持するためにどの位置にサーキュレーターを配置しようか、と日々工夫することも、ちょっと楽しくないですか？
I think you will enjoy fine-tuning the placement of each circulator daily to maintain a comfortable temperature.

I assume there are a lot of professionals who have experienced and figured out how to reduce energy consumption with their ingenuity. If you don't know how to do it yourself, you can simply hire them or ask your friends for advice.
すごく暑がりな方は、クーラーの温度を下げる前にネッククーラーや濡れタオルなどを試してみても良いのではないかと思います。
If you are sensitive to hot weather, you can also try a neck cooler, a wet towel, or other cooling items instead of lowering the air conditioner temperature.
また、たまに「この施設は再生可能エネルギーを利用しています」と書かれている商業施設を見かけますが、とても好印象です。
Additionally, I occasionally see businesses displaying signs that they use sustainable energy, and I think that's great.
その「再生可能エネルギー」が「CO2排出量実質ゼロ」の方ではなく、純粋にグリーンエネルギーの再生可能エネルギーであることを祈っていますが。
I hope that "sustainable energy" means actual green energy, not just virtual credits.
屋根にソーラーパネルを設置して、一部を補充することはすぐにはハードルが高くても、再生可能エネルギーの電力に切り替えることはすぐにできると思います。
I think it's easier to just switch your business to a green energy provider rather than installing solar panels to cover part of your energy use.
個人的には、現在はまだ選択肢があるので、ゲノム編集トマトを置いているスーパーマーケットでは買い物をしないことに決めたのですが、人によっては今後、再生可能エネルギーの電力のスーパーマーケットで優先的に買い物をする、という人が出てきてもおかしくないと思います。
Personally, I've decided to stop shopping at supermarkets that sell genome-edited tomatoes, since I'm lucky enough to live in an area with other grocery options. Similarly, I think that in the near future, consumers might start prioritizing supermarkets that run on green energy, just as I choose to avoid stores that sell genome-edited produce.
選択肢が多い地域だと、上記のような条件で選択肢が狭まると、逆になんとなく買い物が楽になったりすると思います。
I think if people live in areas with a lot of shopping options and can filter by these conditions, shopping will be much easier for them.
ついつい、今日はあっちに行ってみよう、とか、こっちに行ってみよう、と思ってしまうことがなくなって、他の大事なことに集中できる方もいらっしゃるのではないかと思います。
Having fewer options lets you focus, whereas having too many choices can make shopping really inefficient.
省エネ企業のランキングなど、できたら良いように思います。
I want to know which companies rank highest for energy efficiency, renewable energy usage, and self-generation like solar.
リサイクルもそうなんですよね。リサイクルを頑張る企業のランキングもできてもらいたいです。
I would also like to see how they rank in terms of recycling.
可視化されたら、どの企業の商品を購入したら良いのか、消費者はわかりやすくなります。
If this data can be visualized, it will be easier to identify eco-friendly companies and choose which ones to support.
また、リサイクル率や省エネ率、CO2排出量、CO2吸収量、放牧以外の乳製品消費率、ポイ捨て率など、毎月、自治体ごとのランキングがあったら良いのにな、と思います。
I wonder if there is a monthly ranking for local governments based on their recycling rates, CO2 emissions and absorption, dairy consumption (excluding grass-fed), and littering rates.
それで、温室効果ガスの排出量が少ない自治体は、税金を減らして、多い自治体は税金を課せられたら良いと思います。
What if the top-ranking governments received tax reductions, while the lower-ranking ones faced tax increases?
運動会（？）みたいに、みんなで日々意識して、競争して頑張ったら良いと思います。上位になればなるほど、税金が減ったら良いと思う。
I think it might be a good idea to introduce a nationwide, sports-day-style initiative where local residents work together as a team to compete in eco-friendly challenges to win a tax reduction.
そうしたら、林業や環境に良い農法の農業も、もっと盛んになるかもしれないし、庭に木を植えたりお花を植えたりゴミを減らしたり、といった取り組みを、みんな積極的にするようになるのではないのかな？
If implemented, forestry and organic agriculture would thrive, and residents would proactively participate in planting trees and flowers, reducing their daily trash, and more.
みんなで楽しく競争して、毎日のようにトップの自治体をニュースで大きく報道したら良いと思います。

脱炭素への投資などに積極的に取り組む企業は増えていると思いますが、大企業以外は、大規模な投資を難しいと思います。
Nowadays, large corporations invest heavily in decarbonization, but smaller companies cannot afford such large budgets.
でも、助成金などを活用できることも多いと思いますし、できる限りの工夫をして頑張れることはあると思います。
However, you might be eligible for a subsidy and it seems possible that they could still take action. Perhaps with enough ingenuity, patience, and a willingness to take on challenges, they might be able to make it happen without spending a fortune.
温暖化対策は世界の共有の問題なので、省エネやリサイクルに積極的な企業は、世界から支持されると思います。
Fighting global warming is a global issue, and people everywhere should support companies that are passionate about saving energy and recycling.
というわけで、企業に是非頑張っていただきたいのですが、個人でできるレベルの省エネもリサイクルを、この夏も引き続き、みんなで頑張りましょう。
Although I want businesses to tackle this issue because it has a huge impact, we also have to take responsibility as individuals living on this planet. Let's keep trying to save energy, recycle, and take further action as much as possible this summer!
