Recently went to NY Comic Con and met with
Neil Kaplan (Diabolico from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) and
Bruce Kalish (Executive Producer from Power Rangers SPD - Power Rangers Jungle Fury). My friends and I talked with Neil for a long time. A long time. But it was pure awesomeness. Some punk kid tried to mess with him, and after I screamed at the punk kid, he ran to his punk father....and then Neil walked up to the punk duo to talk it out. He didn't have to do that. He did that on the behalf of myself and my friends. Pure. Awesomeness.
On Sunday, I saw the full two-part premiere of Aaron Stone. If you don't want to be spoiled even in the slightest, you can skip the review here:
( ReviewCollapse )After the screening, the cast was there to talk and answer questions about the show. Bruce mentioned that he got the idea for the series by watching his son play video games like Halo, and then going out to cosplay because of the games. So he pitched the idea to Disney, they loved it, and the rest is history.
I did get to talk to Bruce a bit after the Q&A, and I was tempted in asking why he left Power Rangers, but the answer is pretty simple. You got your own show that you've created, and no matter what, that's the thing you'd rather do and work on. Nothing bad about how PR is made, but if you don't have to shoehorn footage that you didn't make, then that's a better deal for me.
NY Comic Con was gigantic, and I missed all the mainstream geeky cool stuff, but I had my niche and covered it well. Glad I went, and as my first Comic Con, good times.
