Yuletide reveals! I wrote a Galaxy Quest fic! I'm kind of blown away at the lovely reception my fic got this year - more than I ever expected in terms of comments and kudos, and several very kind recs. I love writing for tiny fandoms-of-one-or-two, but writing for a widely beloved movie for this year was surprisingly fun.

I enjoy this event, but I rarely manage to keep up with all of the days - so I'll keep any intentions to participate very low-key for myself, including not having expectations to share my posts on the comm itself (which sometimes makes me feel overwhelmed or self-conscious). Anyway, I've done some light clean up on my profile, access list, and sticky post, so I'll call that complete.

A CURSE causes Boots and Bruno to be stuck to each other, basically holding hands! Hijinks (and kissing!) ensues, and it's delightful Korman-esque chaos. :D

I had a blast writing I Want to Go Home (Gordon Korman) fic for Yuletide this year! It felt blindingly obvious that this was what I wrote. XD

I love that Korman fans all come out of the woodwork at Yuletide; I received some amazing comments from the recipient and other readers, which makes my heart happy.

Kristy and the Worst Year Ever (ensemble gen [with some pre-Kristy/Shannon], 4100 words)
Aww, this captures some Big Feelings about all of the changes that come with starting high school, with great Kristy Thomas characterization. Loved this as a way forward for the friends to figure things out with the BSC as new things come into their lives as well.

Clueless
Clueless in College (Cher/Tai, 1900 words)
Futurefic with fantastic bubbly Cher narration where Cher figures some things out in college. So funny and cute - really enjoyed this one!

Die Hard
When I'm Like This (Matt/John, 7500 words)
This is always such a fun Yuletide pairing! Matt has trouble sleeping, so John lets him share his bed and then basically move in. Fun banter and sizzling sexual tension between them, and John's POV is great. Hot and funny!

England Series - KJ Charles
Upon a Midnight Clear (Pat/Fen, 3200 words)
Really liked this Christmas Eve fic about Pat returning home to what is now her sister-in-law's household, and all the unfamiliarity and uncertainty that brings. Lovely Pat/Fen feels.

A Sprinkle in Time (ensemble gen, 1700 words)
The band throws Dawn a baby shower! The dialogue had me in stitches, and I loved that this captured some of the zany-ness of the show while also giving me heart-warming friendship feels.

Hench - Natalie Zina Walschots / Ask A Manager
my wife doesn't know I hench, the evil sex ray made my employees do it, and more (gen, 2000 words)
I know this has been recced widely, but it's so FUN, with a really perfect AAM voice. I haven't read Hench, but you can easily read this fic as delightful superhero/supervillain worldbuilding.

Hilda (cartoon)
Building a better Cabinet of Curiosities (Hilda/Frida, 5000 words)
Charming futurefic where Frida is working at the Trolberg Museum, and Hilda comes home from adventuring. I loved the thoughtful exploration of the gaps and inaccuracies in the museum's exhibits, as well as how much Hilda and Frida's friendship (to more than friends) is centred.

I Want to Go Home! - Gordon Korman
Arts and Crafts (Rudy/Mike, 2200 words)
Love this very funny look at the remainder of summer, with new hysterical escape attempts and also first kisses. Super cute and felt very much like a continuation of canon!

A League of Their Own (TV)
my kind's your kind (Max/Esther, Max & Clance, 3100 words)
This is a glorious "what happens next" story for Max, and I love how it shows her blossoming and growing and figuring out who she is. Her relationship with Clance is such a deep throughline here, and I just loved it.

Murderbot - Martha Wells
Murderbot and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (gen, 1600 words)
This is charming, and super delightful! Murderbot faces cliffhangers, scalper bots and the horrifying ordeal of being perceived in public.

Singin' in the Rain

My gift! Futurefic with the OT3 snowed in while filming on location, with charming banter and cozy domesticity. The intimacy and familiarity between them really makes this sparkle.

Sins of the City series / Lilywhite Boys series - KJ Charles
Lifting (Sukey, Emma & Justin, 1900 words)
How Sukey meets Justin! I love this glimpse of their history together - fantastic Sukey characterization, such a wonderful mix of sharpness, loyalty, and determination.

Victorian Ladies and UFOs (eeBoo puzzle)
Monoc Mania: A Short History of a Long-Lived Trend (worldbuilding gen, 1000 words)
This GREAT puzzle (art by Kirsten Sevig) is one of our household's faves; you can see it here. It's calling out for worldbuilding, and I love how this fic elegantly explores this alt history through fashion trends in a pitch-perfect pop history style. The Levitation Flirtation chart is amazing. :D

Saira tries to cure Amina's stage fright. This has absolutely charming Amina narration, and fantastic fluttery crush feelings. Love it to bits!

For Yuletide this year, I wrote getting-together fic for the movie 4th Man Out for glitterpig. It was a super fun fic to write, and I put a bunch of my feelings about queer communities and queer friendships into it.
