Having a productive day today working on things for avengers_land - I've procrastinated a lot and left the big challenge until close to the deadline so I'm trying to get caught up now by writing lots of drabbles and shorter fics because I don't think I have the time to write a longfic now. The first mission over there is nearly finished now, actually. I've really enjoyed it and I'm lucky to be part of such an awesome team (Sidekicks, you know who you are <3) and also to be able to talk to lovely people from the other teams, too.

Speaking of longfics, I post my 20k gen Supernatural Adam fic on the 3rd - it's probably a bit late to be asking this but is there anyone who is willing to do a beta for me? Someone's already looked at part of it but didn't manage to get through it all before they went away so I'd really appreciate it.

It's really lovely outside today. The past few days it's been really warm but cloudy and muggy with it. Today there's blue sky and sunshine which is such a nice change! So I went outside and wrote out there for a while which was really nice.

I'm almost finished catching up with both H50 and Psych now - trying to pace myself a bit though because it's a little while until both shows come back so it means I can still have new episodes for a bit longer. Doing the same with S4 of Leverage which just arrived on DVD, trying to rewatch a bit slower than I started on the first night to draw the fun out *g*

If there's one thing that's been reiterated to me over the past month or so, it's that I've made some amazing friends through being a part of lj. It makes me feel very lucky to have you guys as well as my friends who I get to physically see.

....
Heading into uni for the first day of semester two shortly - I have three lectures today and I imagine they're mostly going to be introductory. Have one point where I have to do the usual dash to get from one building to the next in time for my lecture but, luckily, I have a friend who will probably save me a seat.

Met up with ishilde for coffee yesterday and we started planning the fic we're collaborating on for the Adam challenge - I'm very, very excited to be working with her on this - never collaborated with anyone on writing a fic before though, anyone have any tips for how best to organise it?

My Leverage reverse bang is still coming along nicely - I have 3000 words done and a very clear idea of what's happening. Speaking of, is there anyone who might be willing to beta it for me when it's done? It's going to be at least 10,000 words and it's Sophie/Eliot - there's a chance it might need to be a fairly quick turnaround depending on when I finish but I'm hoping I'll get the draft done to leave enough time.

I'm really looking forward to Friday now - my day off! (Also the day me and my friends go to Pizza Hut, it's going to be even better this week because I think my friend who is away at uni is going to be there!)

Anyway, I better go and get ready so I'm not late for my first lecture...

*hugs you all*

Still looking for someone to beta the timestamp to Pages Turn - it's around 7k and it's probably good if you're familiar with the fic although it's probably not necessary - I'm looking for a fairly thorough beta job as I really want it to be as good as I can get it.

Anyone willing to help?

TIA

Hey guys, how are you? Did you all have a good holiday? I haven't posted since Christmas because it's been quite a busy few days - we've been taking Kizzie for lots of long walks and a run at the beach and then coming home and playing scrabble or watching a movie together. So I thought I'd do a bit of a bullet post to let you all know what I've been up to.
  • Christmas Day was really lovely. We had family come over unexpectedly for a few hours. First of all, my cousin brought his three kids around - they're aged 5, 4 and 3 - and we took them to the park for a little bit while he went to meet some friends. Then, when we got back, my uncle and other cousin (who we haven't seen in ages) were there. It was really good to see them and it was a nice surprise. Aside from those couple of hours, we had quite a quiet day with just the five of us plus Kizzie in the house. I helped my Mum make the Christmas dinner this year and it turned out pretty well :) Then, on Boxing Day, another cousin (the pregnant one) visited with her partner and his son and it was good to see them, too!
  • I got some lovely presents - Supernatural Season Six, money towards A8, a new purse (which I really wasn't expecting), some make-up, some cds and other things. I think my Mum really liked her presents from us, too, although she said we'd spent too much money on her!
  • The writing has been going better - I managed to break through the block and I've written almost 4,000 words. Problem is, that's 4000 words of one of the fics that was meant to only be a few k long. I'm hoping to finish it tonight and then get to work on some of the other prompts too! Speaking of, though, is there anyone who'd be willing to beta a timestamp to my big bang 'Pages Turn' (the J2 bookstore fic) for me? I'm not sure how long it's going to be when it's done, probably about 7k, maybe a little bit longer. It is NC-17, just fyi.
  • I'm still looking for an end of the year meme - either a general one or a one summing up fandom/fic experience in 2011 or something similar.
  • Ask me something random :D I'm in a random kind of mood!
  • I really liked the latest episode of Leverage - I've been working on a reaction post but I haven't finished it yet. And I loved the Christmas special of Downton Abbey - can't believe how long we have to wait for the next season! What did you guys think about the episodes? (Either/or/and!)

It's my day off uni today so I've been (or trying to be!) productive at home. I've done some more editing to my essay that's due on Monday - it's still over the word count limit but it's within the 10% leeway now so I should be okay. Speaking of, I got my mark for the first documentary commentary that I handed in a while back; got a 68 which is two marks off a First so I'm pleased with that. I should be getting some more marks back soon.

I'm getting excited about all sorts of things at the moment:
  • Going to the pantomime again next Thursday - it's at a different theatre and it's more of an amateur performance than the last one but it should still be fun. It's a Brownie trip but we had a spare ticket so one of my friends is able to come as well.
  • I'm booked up for two gigs in January - The Maine and All Time Low on one night and then Panic at the Disco the week after.
  • Going to see Calamity Jane at the theatre in April.
  • Asylum 8 (!)
And one more thing that's most likely happening: going to see American Idiot: The Musical in Edinburgh October of next year :) Tickets go on sale tomorrow so, providing we can get some, we're going. I'm so excited!

Okay, one final thing, is anyone willing to beta a fic for me? It's a little over 1000 words and it deals with the angels. It's one of the Christmas prompt fics that I've finished.

I'm going to be away from the 5th-12th August without any internet access or even my laptop so I won't be contactable/involved with anything on the internet during that week (I'm guessing I'll have lots to catch up on when I get back!) Anyway, it also means I'm going to need to work my fic writing and challenge entries around that.

I've got part of a plot outline for thebigbangjob now (yay!), hopefully I'll finish it tonight. The deadline for the rough draft is a month from now, 21st August, so I really need to try and have most of it written before I go away so that I don't have a mad dash in the week after I get back (which is when I get exam results etc so I'll be pretty busy.) If I were to make the submission just in time I'd need to write at least 600 words a day (missing out the week when I'm away.) Obviously though I'd rather have the bulk of it written before and I can't be sure exactly how far I'll go over the minimum word count (which is 15,000) so I really need to aim for about 1000 words per day. So yeah, do me a favour and pester me about that, yeah? ;)

The other thing I'm currently working towards a deadline for is the hoodie_time tag challenge which needs to be posted by August 17th at the latest. This one will only be a couple of thousand words so I'm hoping to have it finished before I go away. Would anyone be willing to beta-read it for me while I'm gone? Its gen, an insomnia, Dean-focused h/c fic - that way I can edit and post it on the 13th/14th in time for the deadline.

Aside from that of course, I'm working on the prompt fics I have yet to finish and post, I'm hoping to do a least one fill for the John focused comment meme that's running here at my journal at the moment and I have, of course, the ongoing Stanford fic to work on.

Yeah, I'm scared now!

Sorry, I know I've posted quite a bit today but I forgot to mention this before and I figure it warrants a post of it's own anyway. I kind of had a thought the other day. I was thinking about how there should be more fic about John Winchester and I thought it would be awesome to do a comment meme with prompts focusing on John/ featuring John. Then I started thinking about other characters.

So, basically, my idea is to do a fortnightly comment meme focusing on different characters each time that people think are maybe underappreciated/there needs to be more fic about. The prompts won't necessarily have to be focused on that particular character but would have to feature them. I don't know, does anyone like that idea?

Anyway, the reason I'm bringing it up here is because you all know me - I can't code/use html to save my life so I was wondering whether anyone would like to team up on something like this. I'd help with creating the rules/making sure everything is running smoothly and adding to masterlists and things like that if someone else could do coding and perhaps create some banners and things.

So, if anyone is interested let me know and we can chat more about it and try to figure something out :)

P.S. Personally, I'd love to do a similar thing for Leverage, too :)

*waves*

Hey everyone. How are you all doing today? Good, I hope.

I kind of just realised that I haven't done any revision today so guess what I'm doing tonight! I got totally distracted trying to code my big bang. Guys, I think that the thing I hate most in the world is HTML. I just can't use it. I spent the whole afternoon trying to but in the end I've had to cheat and use rich text a bit too because I just couldn't do it :/ I think it still looks okay and I've managed to include the wonderful art by tinkabell007 so hopefully everything will be okay.

I'm feeling kind of nervous about posting now. There's going to be a lot of people reading these fics, you know? And this is the first time I've taken part so I'm just hoping people will like it.

Keeping with the writing theme, I wrote a oneshot yesterday so I'm wondering whether anyone would beta it for me. It's a Sam/Dean fic, about 2.5k and there isn't a great deal of hurry to get it back to me straight away or anything.

I'm back in school for a couple of hours for revision sessions tomorrow but I'm still off for most of the day so I'm going to really try and work hard during the day and then I can have the night off again. Honestly, though, I feel like I know this exam already and that I don't need to do much revision. And then that makes me feel awful because it sounds like I'm being arrogant - I just honestly feel confident with the material and I feel like I've worked hard all year with this subject and now I haven't got much left to do.

I think I penciled in an afternoon off on my revision timetable for Friday so I'll finally be able to catch up on BB fics and all the other fics people on my flist have posted. I hate not being able to keep up with everything at the moment!

So, I'm writing a fic at the moment that's kind of turning into a long epic and I'm wondering if any of you can help me with some research. Have any of you ever:
  • Gone to Stanford University? Either as a student there or a visitor or even just for an open day.
  • Been to the area surrounding the campus?
  • Lived in the are surrounding the campus?
Basically, I just want to get an idea about the area - how busy it is, how big the university campus is, where the must-see spots in the area are and anything else you can tell me, really.

I can offer fic/beta-reading in return for any help :) Thanks in advance, guys!

  • Happy Birthday mysticwaters ! I hope you have a really awesome, brilliant, fun-filled day. *hugs*

  • I'm still looking for someone to beta that Sam/Dean fic :)

  • I have a thing at the university tomorrow - going to meet up with someone I've been talking to online who is doing a similar course to me. Hopefully it'll be a good chance to meet some people so that I have friends at the summer school in July.

  • I wrote loads yesterday. I did lots of revision today. I figure that balances it out :)
