If you spam search the caves, you uncover a Drow skeleton and if you move the skeleton you'll see the entrance. So Prathus hands me my 20k gold and I show him to the caves and rest outside as he searches.

That was the first time. After being assured that the death had a 1% chance of happening, he went back and resumed his search of the caves and discovered some 15 gems. I told him that was really lucky and that they sell for a lot of money. About 5 minutes later, the bells tolled yet again for Prathus.
