Are you tracking my visit?

You browse KUOW's website anonymously except while you are logged into your KUOW account. KUOW tracks general traffic patterns and links clicked on our communications using Google Analytics, which relies on cookies.

How does KUOW use this information?

We use website traffic information to gauge public interest and to help us serve you better. We may use your email address to contact you about KUOW programs or opportunities to support public radio, or to request your participation in a KUOW survey. KUOW will remove your name from our email and/or mailing list at any time you request.

Does KUOW share my information with third parties?

KUOW will never rent, trade, or sell your personal information to a third party. Information collected from this site is encrypted and protected against unauthorized use disclosure to third parties. The information you provide (your name, address, email, etc.) is stored in a secure location and protected by security procedures.

How do I update my contact information?

You can create an online account with KUOW at any time, which allows you to update your contact information. To do so, please click "Sign In/My Donations" button in the main menu at the top of this page.

To delete your account, please email us at optout@kuow.org.

How do I change my newsletter preferences or unsubscribe?

Promotional KUOW emails (such as fundraising emails or newsletters) have a link to our email preference center in the footer. When you click that link, you can see what email types you are subscribed to and make any updates or unsubscribe from all promotional communications.

What donor information does KUOW collect?

When you donate to KUOW, you provide us with information that we store in our donor management system. This may include:

• First and last name (yours, and those in your household)
• Mailing address
• Phone number
• Email address
• KUOW content preferences (such as types of coverage, events, etc.)

Additionally, we may link the following information to your donor record:

• Event registration details
• Volunteer history
• KUOW.org visits and/or streaming sessions while logged into your KUOW account*

*To keep this activity anonymous, simply log out of your account.

How will KUOW use this information?

KUOW may use your contact information to send you donation requests, general updates about station events or programs, and account-related inquiries such as prompts to update your contact information.

Does KUOW share donor information with third parties?

KUOW will not sell, share, or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, except as described below.

If you are part of our philanthropy portfolio, or if you have explicitly requested that we do so, KUOW may share your information with NPR or the University of Washington. NPR and the University of Washington do not have access to KUOW’s donor database.

Should KUOW be legally obligated to share sensitive information, we will comply to the extent that the law requires.

How do I opt out of KUOW member communications?

To opt out of email communications, mailed communications, or both, email our membership team at membership@kuow.org or call 206-221-2501. You can also unsubscribe from email communications by clicking on "Email Preferences" in the footer of any promotional KUOW email.

How do I access my donor record?

You can request a copy of your donor record at any time, but must provide at least three pieces of verifiable information that matches your account (e.g. email address, date of last gift, phone number). Please send your request in writing via email or physical mail:

How is my data handled by third-party payment processors?

When you provide us payment information in order to process a donation or buy a ticket to an event, this information is encrypted. Your payment method is tokenized and used by Authorize.net, PayPal, Amazon, Facebook, and Eventbrite only to fulfill your donation or ticket purchase. We do not store your payment information.
