IRA CHARITABLE GIFTS

Support KUOW by making a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA during your lifetime.

The IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) provision allows individuals who have reached age 70½ to donate up to $108,000 to charitable organizations directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) without treating the distribution as taxable income. Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.

You will need to provide your IRA administrator with the following information:

Our Legal Name: KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio
Our IRS Tax ID number: 91–2079402
Ask them to include your name on the check and to indicate it is an IRA QCD
The check should be mailed to: KUOW, 4518 University Way NE, Suite 310, Seattle, WA, 98105

Additional Information

Required Minimum Distributions: Taxpayers age 73 or older are required to make annual distributions from their IRAs, which are then included in their adjusted gross income (AGI) and subject to taxes. The IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) permits those taxpayers to make donations directly to charitable organizations from their IRAs without counting them as part of their AGI and, consequently, without paying taxes on them. Roth IRAs do not require withdrawals until after the death of the owner.

Direct-to-Charity: Please ask your IRA plan administrator to make the check out to KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio and to send it directly to us at the above address.

Limit on Amount: For tax year 2026, holders of traditional and Roth IRAs who are 70½ or older can make direct charitable transfers. A single person can transfer up to $111,000 tax-free; a married couple can transfer up to $222,000 tax-free from separate accounts.
