Drishti [GalaxEye]

Mission Drishti is an Earth observation satellite developed and operated by GalaxEye of India. The satellite carries the world’s first commercial OptoSAR payload combining synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and multispectral imaging (MSI) sensors on a single spacecraft platform.

The mission is designed to provide analysis-ready Earth observation data by simultaneously collecting SAR and optical imagery during a single orbital pass. By integrating both sensing systems into one payload, the satellite eliminates the need to combine data from separate spacecraft and produces inherently aligned fused datasets for commercial, industrial, and government applications. The OptoSAR architecture is intended to support persistent monitoring, infrastructure analysis, agriculture, disaster response, maritime surveillance, and environmental monitoring under both daylight and adverse weather conditions.

Mission Drishti’s primary payload combines an X-band SAR instrument with a seven-band multispectral imager. The SAR system operates using VV polarization and supports Stripmap and Spotlight imaging modes, with resolutions reaching 0.9 m in Spotlight mode. The multispectral imager provides seven spectral bands including Coastal Blue, Red Edge, and Near Infrared channels, with a native ground sampling distance of 3.6 m at nadir. Fused OptoSAR products are generated at 1.8 m resolution.

The satellite provides a SAR swath width of 30 km and an MSI swath width of 10 km. The combined data products are intended to deliver significantly greater information content than standalone radar or optical systems while maintaining standardized and repeatable data products suitable for downstream analytics and commercial service development.

Mission Drishti was launched on a shared launch mission aboard a Falcon 9 launch vehicle on 3 May 2026.
