LASARsat [Spacemanic]

LASARsat, developed by Czech high school students from the LASAR team, is a 1U CubeSat to test innovative laser technology invented to repair malfunctioning satellites and address the escalating problem of space debris in Earth's orbit..

The project was recognized by NASA specialists in the prestigious Conrad Challenge for its novel concept of employing lasers to remotely repair malfunctioning satellites and address the problem of space debris.

LASARsat will be used as a target for laser testing in partnership with the HiLASE laser center. The CubeSat is outfitted with a variety of scientific instruments, including photodiodes, a plasma detector, and corner reflectors, to investigate the laser's effects and contribute to the growing problem of space debris, which poses significant risks to future space missions and even our daily lives on Earth's surface.

It was launched on 21 December 2024 on the Bandwagon-2 mission on a Falcon-9 v1.2 (Block 5) rocket.
