TY 1-02 [Spacety]

Xiaoxiang 1-02 (TY 1-02) is a laser communication new technology verification satellite jointly developed by Tianyi Research Institute and commercial aerospace field startup company Shenzhen Hangxing Optical Network Space Technology Co., Ltd. (LaserFleet).

The company plans to use hundreds of satellites to build a laser communication network in space in the future to provide high-speed Internet access for civil aircraft. As the first technical verification star of this program, this satellite will carry out a series of basic technical verification to lay the foundation for the follow-up work.

The 8 kg satellite is built to the 6U CubeSat form factor.

The satellite was launched in October 2018 as a co-passenger to CFOSAT on a CZ-2C (3) rocket.
