Dr. Nerissa Hall, co-founder of Communicare, LLC and the SLLC at Tate Behavioral, is an expert in AAC, tele-AAC, and technology in education. She's renowned for her work with AAC and AT, including developing school-based AAC resources for easyReportPRO. Dr. Hall has served as a LEND Fellow, adjunct faculty, and co-edited significant AAC publications, passionately advancing the field for those with complex communication needs. Our Story

The idea for easyReportPRO was born in 2019. Co-founder and SLP, Michelle Boisvert, always had a passion for technology, organization, data efficiency and overall workload management. When she was experiencing feelings of burnout due to the overwhelming number of evaluations she had, she talked to her computer programmer husband to see how technology, specifically data-optimized templates, could help improve the report writing process. The initial programming for easyReportPRO included hard-coded report templates for specific speech and language evaluations. This was great for Michelle, but the duo wanted to figure out how to expand the use of customized data-optimized templates for any service provider or specialist and in any setting.

Rework the Framework

They started brainstorming possible solutions when the pandemic closed much of the country in March of 2020. This gave them time, lots of time, to really listen to colleagues and look at how individual report elements are written. While a quick online search came up with hundreds of ways to use templates to write faster reports, service providers and specialists are still required to search for the right template, select the needed sections and switch out the information. Despite the many edits, double-checks and reviews, embarrassing errors would still end up in reports. The wrong name or pronouns would be in a paragraph, scores in tables would not match the scores in the descriptive verbiage, or spelling errors would be overlooked. These unintentional mistakes caused specialists to look unprofessional, hurried, and unprepared for the job. The phrase "Rework the Framework" kept coming to mind when the pair would dialogue with other specialists about issues with the current report writing method. That mantra quickly morphed into "Rework Your Own Report Writing Framework" as it was evident that all service providers and specialists had their own procedures, but needed a better way to execute their process.

Building easyReportPRO

A small team of specialists and programmers developed a platform that used data-optimized reporting elements that could be combined to create robust reports for any type of evaluation. They felt that any features part of the platform had to support individual specialists where they needed it most. Some needed tools to initiate a report, save time, and increase productivity. Others wanted an easier way to search for recommendations or evaluation templates, organize the flow of the report, and eliminate unintentional errors. Just about everyone was searching for a better way to reduce the amount of time they spent reworking reports and wanted to focus their time on more expertise driven sections such as diagnostic impressions or intervention plans. With that in mind, the programming and functionality that ultimately grew into easyReportPRO, was created, trialed, and successfully used for assessment, diagnostic and clinical reports.
