In this cove, a part of an old oceanic mantle (former peridotite, now serpentinite) and crust (coarse-grained gabbro with cleavages of "diallage" up to 30 cm) is visible. Between them a "fossil MOHO" (the transition between crust and mantle) can be seen, a small layer of rock that originally was troctolite (olivine grains in feldspar), but the olivine is now heavily altered.
This slab was placed there during the Hercynian orogenesis.
