Porphyry Cu-Au deposit.
The Mamupu copper polymetallic deposit can be divided into the following four metallogenic stages: in stage Ⅰ, the mineral assemblage is diopside + garnet + fluorite ± magnetite. Stage Ⅱ is characterized by a large amount of tremolite and phlogopite formed by the alteration of early skarn minerals. A large amount of magnetite is produced, accompanied by a small amount of sulfide. The mineral assemblage is tremolite + phlogopite + magnetite ± hematite ± chlorite ± epidote ± scheelite ± pyrite ± chalcopyrite. In Stage Ⅲ, the mineral assemblage is pyrite + chalcopyrite + magnetite ± pyrrhotite ± galena ± sphalerite ± quartz ± calcite, which is the main metallogenic stage. In Stage Ⅳ, the mineral assemblage is calcite + molybdenite ± pyrite ± chalcopyrite ± galena ± sphalerite ± bismuth.
0.28 Mt of Cu and 19.6 t of Au
The Mamupu mining district lies in the transitional zone between the Qamdo–Markam intracontinental depression and the Jinshajiang fold-uplift belt. The principal exposed stratigraphic units include the Upper Permian Tuoba Formation (P3t), the Upper Triassic Bolila–Duogaila formations, and the Lower Jurassic Wangbu Formation. The Upper Permian Tuoba Formation constitutes the principal ore-hosting stratigraphic unit and immediate wall rock. It consists mainly of argillaceous siltstone, fine-grained sandstone, and calcareous sandstone, with interbeds of limestone, dolomitic limestone, and dolostone. Intrusion and hydrothermal alteration caused widespread hornfelsing of the clastic rocks, whereas carbonate interbeds underwent skarnization and provided important sites for Cu–Au–Mo–W mineralization.
