The St. Josefi mine is located around five kilometres south of Seelbach in the Schuttertal valley. A small lead ore vein with scattered lead ore runs through this area. The vein, which runs approximately north-south, is estimated to be around 200 metres long.
Today, the former mine site is completely overgrown and is mostly used for agriculture. Tailings are therefore extremely scarce and tend to be found by chance, such as after road construction in 1993.
