Rübenkeller ('Forage Beet cellars') near Nidda are the famous textbook location for chabazite and phillipsite since about 1850.
The cellars have been built in the early 19th century or before, as Nidda was frequently flooded until the Nidda-Dam was built (around 1970).
Material from Nidda has been used for early zeolite research and was a popular excursion target at the end of the 19th century for the mineralogists from Marburg and Giessen.
Small chabazite and phillipsite crystals cover the walls of cavities in a soft basaltic layer.
The location was very prolific in the 19th century according to the amount of samples in old collections.
