Miniera del Monte Seguret (Miniera del Rio Secco), Salbertrand, Città metropolitana di Torino (Provincia di Torino), Piemonte, Italia
Old iron mine at 2180 m a.s.l. on the eastern slope of Monte Seguret, in the valley drained by Rio Secco, operated between 1938 and the end of the 1940s by the company FIAT - Sezione Ferriere Piemontesi. The iron mineralisation consists of two 1-m-thick layers of microcrystalline hematite sparated by a layer of greenish mica schists of similar thickness.
A partly outcropping uraninite-sulphide mineralisation was discovered at the beginning of the 1960s in the mine area.
In a crystallographic study on Italian uraninites, 25 samples from three localities of the Ambin Massif (Monte Seguret, Grange della Valle, and Molaretto) were investigated: their average lattice parameter is a = 5.474 Å, the highest for Italian uraninites (Garavelli, 1962).
