These mines worked a series of ENE-trending lodes to the east of North Country hamlet. An elvan dyke that runs through the sett trends roughly parallel to the lodes. There are three lodes south of the elvan, including Shanger lode, Good Fortune lode (Carr's lode) and Wheal Maria lode. The eastern parts of the Shanger and Wheal Maria lodes were worked by the Little North Downs mine and West Wheal Peevor, respectively. There are another three lodes north of the elvan, on which only little work was done.
