Costelloe Granite Quarry
Two adjacent quarries that have now merged into one. The northern part is now disused, but the adjoining southern part is active. The quarry is located in Costelloe Murvey granite that forms part of the calc-alkaline Galway batholith. The granite in the northern quarry is intruded by a vertical dolerite dyke. Both the dyke and the granite are cut by thin hydrothermal veins carrying fluorite and minor Pb/Fe sulfide mineralisation.
