A copper and tin mine working some ENE-trending lodes in a tract of land between the Great North Downs mine in the east and Wheal Mary in the west. The western boundary of the sett is defined by Shanger crosscourse, which is approximately under the small stream that flows between Great Sinns and Little Sinns; the workings on the west side of this valley belong to the Wheal Mary sett. County crosscourse, about 600 yards to the east, marks the eastern boundary of the Little North Downs sett.
From 1815 to 1871, the mine produced 29,849 tons of 8% copper ore and 12 tons of black tin. During the period 1912-1919, when it was worked for tungsten together with Wheal Peevor, 9 tons of black tin and 5.3 tons of wolframite were produced. The mine is said to also have raised small quantities of silver ores.
