Site is located within Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge.
Location: This occurrence is located north of Gurney Bay and approximately 1 1/2 miles south of VABM Spit (Foley and Barker, 1985, figure 24, locality 1A). Site is accurate to within 1 mile.
Geology: Minor chromite occurs in an ultramafic complex consisting of complexly layered gabbro and pyroxenite and minor serpentinized pyroxene peridotite and dunite.
Alteration: The ultramafic country rock is serpentinized.

Deposit Model: Podiform chromite (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 8a).
