Köppen climate type:
(Map- Google Maps lists Lake Darlot just west of the deposits in the goldfield and is misleading. The geographic Lake Darlot is a salt-pan to the south, and the Darlot goldfield is south of the lake, and about 50 kilometres south of Bronzewing).
The Bronzewing Goldfield is approximately 75 kilometres north-east of Leinster, as a series of north-south trending open pits, all linked to the mill at the Bronzewing mine at the northern end. Access is from Leinster, however it could be a private mine road. Eastern access is far longer from Wiluna or Darlot via the Barwidgee-Yandal Road.
Bronzewing and Mount McClure can both be used interchangeably for the goldfield. There is also a Bronzewing and a Mount McClure mine, further subdivided into several pits. Several more named mines extend to the south.
Early historic production is limited to the early 20th Century for the Old Bronzewing Mine, and late 1940's for the Dragon Gold Mine.
Gold was discovered at the 'new' Bronzewing Mine locality by prospector Mark Creasey in the late 1980's. In 1991, Great Central Mines paid him A$115 million for the deposit, making it the highest figure ever given to a prospector for a mineral discovery.
The mine went through several ownership changes, and then Navigator Resources opened several more pits to the south from 2008 to 2011, before they went into administration in 2013.
