Köppen climate type:
Porphyry copper deposit.
Dastakert Porphyry Cu-Mo 9.6 Mt at 0.95% Cu, 0.043% Mo.
NE-oriented porphyritic granodiorite, porphyritic hornblende-diorite, and kersantite dikes control the mineralization. The highest density of dikes is observed in the central part of the deposit. Mineralization is located within a fractured area between dikes. One zone consists of silicified hornfels and is characterized by intense Cu-Mo mineralization. The second zone consists of a mineralized granodiorite and is characterized by an enrichment of Cu with respect to Mo, with a highly uneven distribution of mineralization, and very high grade ore located immediately next to barren zones. In both ore zones, orebodies are lens-shaped.
