McKie (1965) studies a grandidierite in a grandidierite-biotite rock labelled as originating from Sakatelo, Madagascar (Inventory number 195716 in the collection of the University of Cambridge Mineralogical Museum). The locality name is somewhat doubtful and may be a misnomer for Sakoatelo. Sakoatelo means in the local language "where there are three sakoa (Spondias dulcis) trees", and the fruits of the sakoa tree are a source of food in a dry area. A large number of placenames in the district have "sakoa" in their name, it is a common one. On the other hand, the spelling "Sakatelo" is possible in the local language meaning "where there are three dry riverbeds".
It may be identical with the Sakoatelo thorianite deposit in the Maromby Commune.
