Andranondambo, Kaominin'i Maromby, Distrikan' Amboasary Atsimo, Faritr' Anosy, Madagasikara
A 500 by 10 m large lens with a phlogopite-bearing pyroxenite located close to the Manambolo river. The lens has mainly been mined for phlogopite.
Registered as PE. 1436 Hibon, the map coordinates are 188,4 and Y = 405,105. Large "pockets" with phlogopite etc., caused by dissolution of calcite, were found here in the 1950s.
Notes:
- This locality is not the same as the now famous Andranondambo sapphire deposits, even though some sapphire miners also dug in this area.
- Several people have wondered if the phlogopite specimens labelled "Vohitrosy" are from this locality because Mount Vohitrosy is a prominent geographical feature nearby.
