A porphyry copper-gold-silver-molybdenum mine. Produced 9 million tons of ore grading at 1.12% Cu between 1981 and 1984, and had 450 million tons of ore reserves in 1984. The Sarcheshmeh deposit is a giant copper deposit located about 165 km of Kerman, Iran, with estimated resources of 1,557 million tons of sulfide ores and an average copper grade of 0.557 % above a cutoff of 0.25 % within a northeast-southwest ore zone of about 2,000 m × 1,000 m.
The deposit was mined in ancient times, "rediscovered" about 1966, explored during 1966-1969, and in full production in around 1977.

This giant porphyry Cu deposit is located in the Eurasia-Arabian suture zone, hosting 12.0 Gt ore reserve with 14.40 Mt Cu (1.20%), 0.36 Mt Mo (0.03%), and 324 t (0.27 g/t) Au. The Eocene volcanic-sedimentary strata exposed at Sar Cheshmeh consist mainly of andesite and minor tuff. Local magmatism lasted from the Oligocene to the Miocene, and can be divided into two stages: stage I granodiorite batholith and the younger Sar Cheshmeh granodiorite porphyry intruded the andesite wallrocks, forming a NNE-trending ellipsoidal stock with steep intrusive contact. They were intruded by stage II multiphase fine-grained porphyry stock and breccia pipes, and then by the post-ore NW-trending, steeply-dipping hornblende/biotite porphyry dikes.
At 2400 m level, the orebody (> 0.4% Cu) is 2000 m long and 900 m wide, and extends for over 600 m depth. The ellipsoidal orebody shape resembles the stage I Sar Cheshmeh granodiorite porphyry geometry. The stage I Sar Cheshmeh granodiorite porphyry is well mineralized (up to 1.40% Cu), whereas the stage II porphyry, dikes and breccia, are not mineralized.

Located 65 km southwest of Kerman city and 50 km south of Rafsanjan.
