Granitsteinbruch (Steinbruch Hengl), Leodagger, Pulkau, Bezirk Hollabrunn, Niederösterreich, Österreich
Intermittently active quarry in granite (erroneously called "limestone quarry" in Kolitsch & Brandstätter, 2010, based on the information provided by a collector); bought in 2003 by Hengl Co.
Many visits of the quarry show that the granite has a variable colour and texture (several intrusions?) and contains rare aplite veins up to about 5-10 cm in width. Minerals are found in narrow alpinotype clefts (often adjacent to quartz veins/lenses), in granite (e.g. garnet) and in altered, pyrite-bearing granite (e.g. jarosite).
Situation in June 2017: abandoned since at least two years.
Situation in 2020-2024: intermittently active.
Located in the forest WNW of Leodagger (N of Pulkau).
