A copper mine 4 miles north of Oroville. It worked mineralized quartz stringers and lenses, to 4' wide in a fracture zone in quartzite and argillite up to ~5' wide. Development consisted of a 520' adit with 120' of drifts, another adit, a 60' incline and 20' incline shaft, and numerous open cuts. It produced ore in 1911 and 1917-1921.
Structure: The Silver Nail Lake Pluton Was Probably Emplaced In A Magmatic Arc.
Deposit: Part of the kelsey porphyry copper-molybdenum deposit (roper, 1973). ; info.src : 1 pub lit
Geology: Mineralization is in a shear zone in quartz diorite of jurassic-cretaceous (?) silver nail lake pluton (fox, 1970).
Ore(s): The Deposit Is In The Silicified-Sericitic Zone Of The Kelsey Porphyry Copper Deposit (Roper, 1973). Mineralization Is In A Shear Zone Striking N10w And Dipping 30-50sw. The Quartz Diorite Is Crumpled Anlong The Shear Zone And Consists Of Light-Green Quartz-Mica And Serpentine Schist Over A Width Of 6-10 Feet. Pinch And Swells Have Formed Along Which Mineralization Has Developed; Mineralization Also Cements Broken Wall Rock And Replaces Schist Along Planes Of Schistosity (Patty, 1921, P. 245).
Commodity: PRODUCTION: 3 CARS BEFORE 1911, 19 CARS 1917-21
Rock formation(s): Similkameen
Shuswap Series
Ore(s): Fracture Zone
