An old silver mine on Schottenberg hill (i.e. south of Frohnau, but forming part of the Markus Röhling sett), started around 1500 and worked intermittently until 1822. From the 18th century until its closure, it also raised some tin and considerable amounts of cobalt ores. In 1782, it was consolidated with the Markus Röhling Mine.

The extent of the workings on Schreckenberg hill is considerable. The adit was driven for more than 2,000 m below Frohnau and Buchholz, and further south to connect with the veins in the Himmlisch Heer sett at Cunersdorf.

The mine worked on the following veins:
- Bierschnabel Flacher
- Lommers Hoffnung Flacher
- Lommers Hülfe Flacher
